The Goodbye 'Girls'

It's hard to believe that after 7 years, those irresistible Gilmore women are not going to be a part of our lives anymore. No more clever, quick banter, no more Paris obsessions (like labels telling the world to leave her orange juice alone on both sides of the container), no more Luke and Lorelei, no more zany Stars Hollow-ians, and most of all no more of the best mother-daughter relationship to ever grace the small screen. Yes, I'm going to miss those Gilmore Girls. I'm relatively new to the show, so I still have the joy of older episodes to discover and yet, I couldn't help but feel a sadness when the show flashed those closing credits for the final time. Maybe it was the realization that we won't be following anymore the adventures of Lorelei and Rory or the thought of these two being separated by something as permanent as Rory's first real job, but something had me feeling that familiar emptiness in the pit of my stomach that seems to rear its ugly head around this time every year.

As finales go, this one was pretty good, especially since it was designed to work as either a series or season finale (not sure how they had planned to carry out the Rory story line next season if they're had been one). I was happy that Rory and Logan didn't end up together, and she was embarking on a career venture that promised to bring good things for her in the future. Lorelei and Luke seem to be on the right path to mend romantic fences, but there was also a clear sense that she was going to be OK if things didn't work out. In a way, the show came full circle, and that's the way things needed to be left. There was no drawn out sad goodbye at the airport, just an early final breakfast at Luke's familiar diner shared between the mother and daughter who made this show so charming. And in that final scene, a sense of ease in that classic Gilmore style coexisting with a harbinger of change. A fitting ending for a series that loved to balance contridictions.

Shows come and go. But it's a real tribute to everyone involved when the characters left behind leave a big enough impact to make you miss them when they're gone. I'm going to miss Lorelei and Rory. TV hasn't met anyone like them, and I'm pretty sure it never will again.

Thank you to the cast and crew of Gilmore Girls for 7 wonderful seasons!!

BREAKING NEWS: 'Gilmores' Prepare to Say Goodbye

From The AP:

`Gilmore Girls' to wrap after 7 years

By LYNN ELBER, AP Television Writer
Thu May 3, 4:29 PM ET

LOS ANGELES - Goodbye "Gilmore Girls." The sharp-witted saga of an independent mother and daughter that added to the luster of the young WB network, will end its run after seven seasons.

The show, which last year moved to the CW network created by the merger of WB and UPN, will air its final episode May 15 at 8 p.m. EDT, CW and producer Warner Bros. Television announced Thursday.

"Gilmore Girls," starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel and created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, "helped define a network and created a fantastic storybook world featuring some of television's most memorable, lovable characters," CW and the studio said in a joint statement.

They thanked fans for their "passionate support" promised to give the show "the send-off it deserves."

Ratings had dipped this season for the series, which lost Sherman-Palladino as its guiding hand because of a contract dispute.

The drama with comic overtones followed the lives of single mom Lorelai Gilmore (Graham) and her equally bright and beautiful daughter as they grew up together, struggled through romances and tried to find their place in the world.

Rapid-fire patter, the series' hallmark, delighted fans but took a toll on its cast.

"Getting the language perfect requires a number of takes that you might not have on another show," Graham told The Associated Press in January 2006.

"It's just a lot of work — 13, 14 hours door to door. I've missed weddings, I've missed babies being born. I'm not complaining, because of what it has brought me, but I would be ready for a different balance."

Sherman-Palladino and her husband and fellow executive producer, Daniel Palladino, left after failing to come to terms with the studio on a new deal, and the series struggled creatively and in the ratings this season.

The April 24 episode drew fewer than 4 million viewers, down about 25 percent compared to the same time last year.

As production on the show got under way last fall, its future then uncertain, Graham speculated about the final chapter.

"I care very much how the story ends," Graham said told the AP. "... It would be my worst nightmare if we end the show with a wedding. To me, the premise of the show was, `What if your parent was your best friend?'"

"That's the thing you leave people with, the strength of this family and this relationship," she said.

It's going to be sad to say goodbye to this show. I've come to love the Gilmores and all their crazy antics. Let's hope it goes out in style on May 15th.

The Girls and Their Secrets

*sorry this is late! we got behind on the tivo and well...*
Our Girls came back from a Christmas break; to celebrate Christmas. Rory came back from visiting Logan in London to find Lorelei had postponed all Christmas activities until Rory was home. Rory was greeted by her mom, her dad and her little sister. Lorelei and Christopher made the same lame ‘England Driving’ joke, at different times, and the show was on its way. Lorelei had excellent lines, for once this season. The little tirade about the thoughts in her head...oh that was excellent! (I say excellent too much don't I? Excellent!)

Personally, I think this was a pretty good episode, aside from more forced conflict, but I’m coming to expect that so it doesn’t sting as much as it has in the past. Luke went to the Dragonfly Inn to ask Lorelei to write a letter of character for his court case against Ana. Lorelei agreed, obviously but, here’s the forced conflict, refrained from disclosing to Luke that she had agreed to write such a letter. Why did she refrain? Why good question, Young Grasshopper, I shall explain. Lorelei gives a blurb to Rory while they’re out Christmas shopping, that she wanted to spare Christopher anymore turmoil about Luke because Christopher had seen her holding Liz’s baby and all the issues surrounding the wedding party that Emily wanted to throw. See, it’s typical Lorelei stuff, and if Chris has really known Lorelei for 30+ years he’d understand that. But, because we, the fans, need some forced conflict, Chris doesn’t like that Lorelei didn’t want a big wedding party. Nor, did he like the fact that Lorelei held a baby from Luke’s family tree…’cause you know, holding babies ALWAYS leads to more between two people. So, Lorelei decided that telling Chris about the Luke Letter was a bad idea. And why do you think will happen next? Why, Chris is going to find the letter, think that it’s some sort of nostalgic piece that Lorelei wrote because her heart told her so and then Chris will be out the door, or very close to it…March sweeps are coming up, who knows what conflict we’ll be forced into by then. So that, Young Grasshopper, is why Lorelei didn’t tell Chris about her Luke Letter. Oh, yeah and the oogling at the mall when Luke and Rory were reminiscing over his past gifts to her…that had something to do with it, even though that was an odd scene.
We finally got to have decent scenes with Lane and Zach. But I do have to ask, just how pregnant is Lane? I mean didn’t she find out in September that she was pregnant? That makes her only 4 months along. Even with twins you’re not THAT big, I don’t care who you are. Maybe if she had a whole litter brewing in there, she’d be that big…but I’m talking 6 babies. She’s got two. Not to mention her stomach was really high in one scene then really low in the next. Maybe it’s the fact that I’ve had three babies and pregnancy and childbirth are always misrepresented in Hollywood, even Stars Hollow as is the case. So, I’m probably overly-sensitive on this subject, but I still think that they should just have her chubby and not full blown, house-super-size, McBabyFactory big….I’m just saying.
All in all; I liked the episode. It made me smile and gave me back my ‘Girls’. I want to see more interaction between characters though. I’m still missing how Lorelei and Rory’s lives were followed all over Connecticut and not just in their house and in town on occasion. And really, I’m all happy that Luke has a kid and all (although I still wish that he didn’t have one, it would make life more interesting and he’d still be the tough guy with a heart of gold instead of this mature, ‘Father Knows Best’ dude that he’s turned into), but I really am sick of hearing April talk. She talks too much. I know that’s her quirk, but it’s annoying. Her voice annoys me and what they talk about is monotonous and I really couldn’t care less. As a matter of fact, during the scene at Luke’s apartment when they were talking about rocks and the rock polisher, I was thinking of my grocery list…seriously, I’m not over-exaggerating here…I was seriously thinking “Oh yeah we need toilet paper, and dryer sheets, oh and dog food.” It’s BOR-ING, folks…B-O-R-I-N-G! Ok, that point has been made…moving along….
So, I’m glad that I got a Christmas episode, even if it’s late, I liked it…it was Christmas Gilmore-style! I want to see more scenes with the other residents of Stars Hollow and with Emily and Richard. We need to get everyone back together and make this look like a state that Lorelei and Rory are a part of and not a show about Lorelei and Rory that the state plays a part in, on occasion….please? Anyone out there hear me? Anyone? Bueller?

The Girls Show Off Their 'Merry Fisticuffs'

By Turtlemama

Last night's introduction left me screaming in my head "NO! NO! Lorelei can't leave Stars Hollow!" Then I realized that they wouldn't have a show if Lorelei left Stars Hollow, so I just enjoyed their commercial-esque dialogue and went with it.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The episode really begins with Liz bringing Doola (ha! That still cracks me up!) into the diner and showing her off. Then she puts the baby carrier on the counter and exclaims to Luke “Ok, I’ll be back in an hour!” and off she goes…
Luke with a baby at the diner! HA! I wish that he would have put a little cook’s hat on her and given her a pen over her ear! Heeee! We could have called her ‘Flo’.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Next we move on to Lorelei arriving at Emily’s house and of course Emily must throw Lorelei a lavish wedding…and of course Lorelei doesn’t want one. The dialogue between the wedding planner and Lorelei was excellent! Classic Lorelei to be sure!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

On to the meat of the episode; Christopher and Lorelei are at Dooce’s market getting groceries. And I just have to say; Dooce’s had Eukanuba dog food and a HUGE bag of Friskies cat food; in a small town? I can only find Eukanuba in the vet’s office and at big, box pet stores and my town is ten times the size of Stars Hollow. I think I want to move to Stars Hollow, too bad it doesn’t exist.
Lorelei goes outside to wait and find Luke with Doula walking past. Lorelei visits with them when Christopher comes out and acts a bit jealous.

Finally, on to Rory… Logan is visiting Rory at Yale (Interesting that Logan wasn’t in England for very long…I didn’t think that would last very long, but I sort of wished they would have brought Dean back…but that’s just me) and they meet up with Lucy and Marty. Does Lucy annoy anyone else other than me? Her acting isn’t that great and it’s like nails on a chalkboard when she calls Marty ‘boyfriend’ ack! Anyway, Lucy invites Rory and Logan out to dinner with her and Marty and it’s a date! Then Rory needs to explain to Logan that Marty doesn’t want Lucy to know that he knew Rory before he met Lucy. Logan doesn’t like it and….*drumroll* is jealous! But the date is set, and we’re all waiting in anticipation for the coming scenes.

I like how Rory and Lorelei’s storylines are always parallel to one another each episode…Logan is jealous of Marty and Rory, and Christopher is jealous of Luke and Lorelei. It helps to keep things in order and keep up with the conflict, you know?

Ok, now on to Lorelei and Christopher’s scene in bed that night…I don’t think I know many men that would throw out, in the middle of the night, “Hey! Let’s have a kid!” and then get mad when the chick says “Well, ok, but not right now!” Wouldn’t you want to figure out where the kid will sleep, at least? Lorelei said that she didn’t want to leave Stars Hollow or her house and her house has a whole 2 bedrooms. Do the math… 2 adults, 1.5 kids (Rory is part-time) plus another baby (with a LOT of stuff) equals a LOT of room that Lorelei’s current home doesn’t allow. Not to mention that you might want to discuss your parenting styles and all that. You know, make sure that you two won’t be at odds with one another every day for the rest of your lives. It just seems that the storyline with Christopher and Lorelei has forced conflict. Conflict should flow and ease into the situation, not just be thrown in at some inopportune time.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Luke needs an attorney; his baby’s momma is a wench at times….which we saw when Lorelei went to introduce herself so that Luke could see April unsupervised. The woman wouldn’t let Luke see his own daughter with Lorelei around, and then went off on Lorelei when they met at Anna’s shop…past behavior…future outcomes… Glad he did finally get an attorney; now this will be an interesting storyline.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I’m still trying to find out why Lucy had such a crazed reaction to finding out that Marty and Rory knew each other. I mean I can see being irked that your boyfriend and friend didn’t tell you that they knew each other, but I would have asked why and then, oh I don’t know…waited for a response BEFORE making a scene and running out of the restaurant. I just don’t get it.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The fistfight in the town square with the Christmas Carols playing in the background…HIL-ARI-OUS!! And how they ended it was PERFECT! Just walking away like they did! That was a great scene! Merry Christmas!

Emily’s ambush of Lorelei was really what Lorelei needed. Emily gave her some sage advice; I hope Lorelei heeds her mother’s wisdom and tries to be a little selfless now and again. As much as I love Lorelei, she really can be selfish and uncompromising at times.

I saw glimmers of hope here and there in this episode, I really hope that the writing slows down a bit and stops forcing conflict onto Lorelei and then just creating it out of the blue for Rory…I mean the conflict with Lucy and Rory about the Marty stuff, it just seems unrealistic. These are Yale students, meaning they aren’t community college drop-outs who react without thinking…these people got into their current situation by using their brains. The situation just seems forced to me, but again maybe I’m a hardcore fan who doesn’t like much change.

Glib Gilmores? Atleat they're knitting!

***Sorry this is late, I have three sick kids who thought that mom REALLY needed to be sick too, preferably the day her English paper was due would be great! So I have been a little under the weather and writing A LOT...but here's the update, it may be a bit more snarky than usual, but I'm sick so I apologize!***

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but lately Gilmore Girls has just been sort of ‘ho-hum’ when it comes to storylines. They rushed Christopher and Lorelei into marriage; which was WAY out of character for Lorelei, she’s the indecisive one after all! Then Rory gets ‘mad’ but only for a few hours and after talking to her mother she decides that she can forgive her mother and father. It was just too clean and quick. Usually fights last days, sometimes weeks, heck one lasted half a season! But now, now it’s like Rosenthal forgot his medication and his ADD is kicking in and we’re just running through storylines left and right. Even my husband said “It’s like all the writers have all these great ideas and so they throw all the ideas into one episode instead of spacing it out over time.” He has a point.
This week we got to see Rory and Marty finally talk; and he revealed his true feelings for Rory. Show of hands, who saw that coming? And that was about it for Rory this week wasn’t it? Oh, she moved back in with Paris. At least we’ll get to see Paris more, but I’d like to see Lane and Zach. I was a young newlywed when I was pregnant and let me tell you that is one interesting first year of marriage, to be sure!
Lorelei didn’t want to take Christopher into Stars Hollow. Christopher wanted to go and become ‘one’ with the town. So, she took him along with her while she picked up knitting supplies for the knit-a-thon. It was really cool to see everyone knitting, seeing as I knit myself YAY KNITTING! Ok, onto the storyline, or lack thereof, Lorelei takes Christopher into town and everyone is very forced when they make niceties towards Christopher and then the recent marriage. Ms. Patty and Babette both mention the lack of a wedding for everyone to come and witness; which leads me to believe that there is a wedding episode soon; a big lavish affair; which will probably mark the end of The Girls.
To try and get Christopher accepted into the town, Lorelei and Sookie set up Jackson and Christopher on what they deem a ‘man date’ and they send them out to a bar. The uncomfortable silence is thick while Jackson and Christopher try to come up with conversation. Eventually, the night goes pretty well and they plan to do it again.
And we finally got to see Richard and Emily again! Lorelei and Christopher went over there for dinner; after Lorelei left a message on their answering machine that she and Christopher had gotten married. The wedding gift that she Christopher received was EXCELLENT! “Wolfgirl” fitting, don’t you think? Bwahahaha!

The next day at the knit-a-thon, Christopher pays the remaining $7,800 that the town needs to raise to complete their bridge project. This ends the knit-a-thon early and Lorelei is quite upset that no one in the town is finishing out the knit-a-thon for a sense of community at least; since her new husband, that the entire town doesn’t care for, just pledged the rest of the money.
Luke witnesses the birth of his niece, Doula (hee! That just cracks me up!), and then decides that Anna can’t take April from him and just move to New Mexico. So, finally, in a task that I’ve been waiting for him to do for a few months now, he visits Anna and tells her to stay where she is or he’ll take her to court to get April. I did a little cheer when he told her this because seriously, she’s just been using him as an insto-babysitter when she needs him. It was starting to tick me off!
We see into next week and that Christopher and Lorelei have a few fights. It’s becoming trite; Lorelei’s fighting about everything and doing everything wrong then wondering why people close to her at mad at her. I’m hoping that it picks back up and that we have those episodes where I walk away with a smile on my face and exclaim “What a great show!” So far this season those have been rare in these parts.
And, unfortunately my friends, that is all there was to this week’s Girls. I was a little disappointed and just hope that things get back on track soon. I miss the intricate storylines and how the Gilmores always went below the surface.

The Girls Take on Some Twisty Turns!

By Turtlemama
PTR Staff Writer

WOW! Last night’s Gilmore Girls was full of twists and turns, wasn’t it? We started out learning that Lane is having twins, to which Zach thought that meant Siamese Twins (HA! Isn’t he cute!?). Lane and Zach also finally told Mrs. Kim that Lane was pregnant, to which Mrs. Kim said that the young couple should move in with her…To which Zach replied “cool.” All of this led Lane and Zach into a tiff over his insinuation that they would move in with Lane’s mother, an idea that Lane did not like one bit. Lane and Zach finally told her mother that they were going to stay at their own home and raise their children in their home by themselves. That’s when Mrs. Kim just went ahead and moved in with Lane and Zach, sending Brian to live with Mrs. Kim’s family! HA! That was excellent!

Now, on to the major twists and turns of this episode:
While Christopher and Lorelei were in Paris, Rory was at school losing her position as Editor to the Yale Daily News and missing Logan at the same time. Rory finally went out with her ‘wild’ new friends and had a breakdown after having the realization that everything in her life was changing (excellent story point BTW, this should keep us interested for another season, at least). I’m curious what will happen with Rory and Logan, I bet she gets scared and breaks up with him thinking that he’ll do it first.

Now, here’s where I get persnickety about my ‘Girls’…..
Am I mistaken, or did Lorelei and Christopher say that they were going to Paris to stay with Gigi the whole month or week or whatever it was? Did they just drop her off? How weird is all of that? They went for a day then came right back home? The story has a huge hole in it from the start to finish of the episode when it comes to how long they were gone. Bad writing in my book, but I digress…
My next issue is that Chris asked Lorelei to marry him, who didn’t see THAT one coming. Then Lorelei agrees they come home married (after an indeterminate time in Paris). Lorelei has never been pro-marriage; she likes to idea but has never been able to really go through with it. All of the sudden she can do it and do it on a whim like that without her daughter, the one person closest to her? Heck yeah this is going to make Rory upset, and since when did Lorelei do anything without consulting Rory first? We know that people can call Rory’s cell phone from an international location, so why didn’t Lorelei just call her? It just all seems so out there from the characters’ personalities that we’ve grown to know and love.

Next week’s episode does look very interesting and I can’t wait to see it, although the scene with Luke and Christopher looking like they were about to throw down is a bit ridiculous, I mean Lorelei and Christopher are married, end of story…Real adults don’t just hop into fist fights after getting married, it’s just not done. But maybe that’s why we love our Girls so much, they do what we only dream and imagine!

Scattered 'Girls'

By Turtlemama
PTR Staff Writer

As most of you know, I am a HUGE Gilmore Girls fan, but last night’s episode left me wanting a little more…dare I say I was a bit disappointed in my Girls last night….

Last night’s episode of Gilmore Girls was a little scattered, I believe. We started out with Lorelei calling her mother then pretending that she couldn’t hear her mother on the other line while Lorelei ‘left a message’ on the machine. Granted, this was a great little trick that I’m sure will come in handy with many of us in the future, right? ;-)
The rest of the episode was just scattered and choppy. We saw Luke go on his first date since his breakup with some coach who was obviously a bit on the crazy side, yet he didn’t realize this until they were at the vegan restaurant? Luke is an astute fellow; I don’t know why he even attempted that date. But he did, after his daughter had a spastic laughing fit of flirtation while her swim coach was trying to talk to Luke…now THAT was odd.
Then we had Parents’ Weekend at Yale…which was rather unassuming and anti-climactic. Honestly my mind wasn’t on the episode because nothing was happening. We did get to see Jackson and Sookie together, I was beginning to think that Jackson was abducted by aliens and sent to live on the planet Zorura. Other than that there really wasn’t anything too interesting.
Chris talked about his regrets not being there while Rory was growing up. He mentioned Gigi and how he is watching her grow up, but maybe I was the only person who thought “HUH? He wanted to send her to Paris by herself with her nanny, and we haven’t seen her on the show since the first episode…how is he watching her grow up?”
We also saw Christopher take Rory’s staff out to lunch and get them tipsy when a major news story broke and they all had to work while drunk. With such a great storyline like that I’m a little shocked that we didn’t get to see more antics in the newsroom. It was all just regular work, work, work. Granted the end was funny when Rory got her payback by sending her parents off to dinner with her grandparents. But really, this episode was a little boring and just didn’t give us anything on any of the storylines. I hope it doesn’t remain this way. It’s becoming that since the breakup, Lorelei is only in Stars Hollow at the inn or in her own home. She’s rarely seen in town and she hasn’t gone back to Luke’s yet. I realize that going back to Luke’s will be a huge step, but really a quick run in for a to-go cup of coffee should be happening by now.
I apologize that this week's recap isn't any longer or more involved, but last night's episode wasn't either...Hopefully next week we get a bit more out of our Girls.

Gilmore Girls ask "What’s the Dill, Pickle?"

Last night’s episode of Gilmore Girls had a few ‘pickles’ in it, but it was still an excellent episode! Let’s get down to the real dill, shall we? (Yeah, I’ll stop with the pickle jokes too, maybe.)
As if you didn’t already catch on a train full of pickles derailed and sent the scent of rotting pickles wafting into Stars Hollow. That wasn’t the largest issue to plague ‘The Girls’ last night. Christopher received a letter from Sherry stating that she wanted a relationship with Gigi. Lorelei didn’t like the idea (does she really have a say in that? Uhhhh NO!) and didn’t want to tell Chris the truth. Then she realized that she had to talk to him about, which she chose to do on the way to Friday Night Dinner. I might be the only GG fan out there that thinks this but I’m sort of sick of Lorelei having an opinion on EVERYTHING and telling everyone how to act/react because of HER opinion. It’s isn’t like she just has an opinion, but she’s lost many, many relationships because of her outspoken, pushy demeanor. Hmmm she sounds like her mother, actually! Another thing about the whole Lorelei/Chris/Sherry/Gigi thing is that Chris made the comment “Gigi is really excited to see her mom again and get to know her.” Um, Gigi was TWO when Sherry left, there is no way she can remember who her mother is and then be EXCITED about going to a foreign place with her nanny to meet up with a stranger who she’s told is her mother. It just isn’t possible, even if your 4-year-old is a genius, I still doubt it could happen…and I’ve had 2 4-year-old and am working on the 2-year-old…He can’t remember where he put his sippy cup 10 minutes ago, let alone remember someone that he meets this year then talks to on the phone in 2 years. So, yeah that one made me pause the TiVo and exclaim to the husband “WHAT?! That’s not possible!” I know, I get wrapped up a bit too much sometimes.

Image courtesy of cwtv.comNow, over to Rory…Logan surprised her by getting her to the roof for a romantic dinner while he was in town for business. Now, at the end of the show you might notice the young girls talking about the show. One of them asked “Would Logan have come to visit Rory if he wasn’t there on business?” The answers, my young friends is NO! He’s busy…when you’re older and get a career and/or marry someone with a career you’ll understand. It’s not as romantic as you believe it to be when you’re a kid. You can’t just take off and go wherever you want whenever you want. You have responsibilities and have to meet those. The CEO really doesn’t care about your co-ed girlfriend in CT…he wants you to your job. Granted, Logan’s father owns the company and all that, but you still have to work on gaining the respect of your co-workers. So no, I do not believe that he would have come to see her that soon after starting his job.
The conversation with ‘the guys’ at dinner was sort of stupid and staged…what business people do you know would ask an associate to reinact her walking away from the table? That’s juvenile and silly and I don’t any self-respecting woman who would actually do it…at least a woman who wants to be taken seriously by her business associates. And for Rory to be jealous, seriously….she needs to chill out and worry about her career and her business and let Logan do whatever it is he does….if he’s around when she’s done worrying about herself, then great, if not…so be it. She did the same thing with Dean, she went to Chilton and had her life…he didn’t want to wait for her, it was ok…hard to bear for a while, but she got over it. What’s different now? Oh yeah, Logan’s family is insanely rich…that’d keep me hanging on, probably! 

All in all it was a great episode last night. I especially liked how Lorelei, Chris and Rory were driving back to Stars Hollow and they were trying to find a decent radio station then all of the sudden you could tell when they hit Stars Hollow…they all grabbed their noses and distorted their faces! It was just silly and classic ‘Gilmore’ fare and you know how I like the classic stuff!

I’m sure that I left out something important from the episode, but those are the two points that I wanted to make about last night’s episode…sorry if I left anything out! It’s getting a little long as it is, I should be quiet now… ;-)

'The Girls' - 'S Wonderful and Marvelous!

By Turtlemama
PTR Staff Writer
As anyone who has read even ONE of my articles on ‘Gilmore Girls’ you know that I am probably Rosenthal’s biggest fan. So how do I love Rosenthal? Let me count the ways;
The storyline is no longer all about Luke/Lorelei & Rory/Logan, with just a sprinkling of Richard/Emily and Lane/Zach and on occasion we get to see Miss Patty and Kurt and everyone else in passing. Now we’ve got full scenes with EVERYONE! Everyone in Stars Hollow has a life, who knew!? In the past it seemed that the only time we got an update on the other characters was when Lorelei or Rory needed one of them. It just didn’t play like the earlier season of ‘Girls’. I was utterly absorbed with the scene in the diner between Luke, Kurt & Miss Patty…no Lorelei or Rory to be had anywhere! I loved it!
Hey, anyone else notice how weird it is that Ana (April’s mom) looks a LOT like Lorelei…it’s kind of creepy. Yeah, I know…you noticed that last season…sometimes I’m slow.
Rory met some new friends and while she was at the apartment with them Logan called. I noticed that Logan didn’t look too happy that she had friends over. I’m very happy that Rory is back at school, I like her Yale storylines. And the new friends should be a good addition to the mix along with Richard as a guest lecturer at the school, that should lead to some interesting scenes. In upcoming previews you see Rory and Logan together, anyone have any theories as to why he comes back? I bet he can’t stand that she’s going along with her life without him and it drives me crazy so he goes back home. What do you think?
Now, let’s get to the meat and potatoes of last night’s episode shall we?
Christopher and Lorelei have started dating. How romantic was the drive in movie!? I’ve always rooted for Christopher to end up with Lorelei. As much as I like Luke, I think Lorelei and Christopher make the better couple, plus they have Rory! And didn’t the evening end on just the right note when Lorelei got the call that Emily was in jail! HA! Who wasn’t cracking up through the whole phone call and Lorelei taking pictures with her camera phone of everything at the police station? That was EXCELLENT television right there, folks!! Emily Gilmore in JAIL! I’m still giggling.
Now, maybe it was just me but last night’s episode didn’t seem like a full hour, it felt like maybe 30 minutes. I was shocked when it was over. It just sort of stopped instead of ending. Was I the only one who noticed that? That’s my only complaint so far this season, so I say things aren’t so bad if that’s the worst of it!
And you know, if nothing else, Gilmore Girls always gives me a great old movie title to look into nabbing off of Netflix. The pop culture references in that show are amazing, I can’t imagine the research that goes into each episode. And who doesn’t feel like a sheer genius when they make a reference and you actually ‘get it’? I know that I do!
So, all in all last night’s episode was excellent, as usual and I’m digging Christopher and Lorelei and as much as I’m probably in the minority here, I’m glad that Logan is in England, it’s nice to see Rory independent and living her own life without having him attached to her 24/7. I can only anticipate this season getting even better!

Rosenthal knows 'Girls'

By- Turtlemama
PTR Staff Writer
image courtesy of CWTV.comOk, who out there wasn’t giggling with glee during the cotillion scenes with Lorelei and Michel? It was HIL-A-RI-OUS!
And I’m sure I wasn’t the only one out there who had to pause the TiVo and exclaim “Thank GAWD for David Rosenthal and his decision for Lorelei to explore her contempt towards her mother!” I was really getting annoyed with Lorelei; a thirty-something who was STILL doing the whole teenage rebellion thing with her parents. Emily and Richard have tried very hard to have a relationship with Lorelei and Rory, yet Lorelei was constantly fighting them. Although, was it just me or did Emily seem a bit more annoying than normal? She was sort of rude to Lorelei, in the past she wasn’t exactly butterflies and puppy dogs, but she wasn’t downright nasty. Last night, she seemed a bit nasty at times.

Christopher’s confession was great! I’ve always wanted Lorelei and Chris to get together. Although we all love Luke, but really, I wish that the built-up tension between Lorelei and Luke would have lasted a bit longer, but maybe they’ll bring that back with Christopher in the picture, that could be some good TV right there, folks! And the ending scene with Lorelei calling Christopher, was just classic! I am totally digging Rosenthal as the Exec Producer!
Rory’s relationship with Logan is on the rocks, but seriously, folks, who didn’t see that coming? I’m thinking that with Logan in his career and Rory still at school, he’s going to become a worldly man and she’ll be just another co-ed at Yale. My prediction is that they’ll drift apart. But then again, Logan has always surprised us, so maybe he’ll just get a job in the states and move back! A girl can dream!
I really enjoyed Lane & Zach’s scenes about the baby. Those were awesome too and I am really digging the pregnancy storyline!
All in all last night was an excellent episode and I ended my Tuesday night saying “That is such a great show!” Rosenthal has done an excellent job, yes I’ve said this before but really it bears repeating, no one thought he could keep ‘The Girls’ going like Sherman-Palladino did, but he has, and I think even better! image courtesy of CWTV.com
Although I want more with Sookie and her family, Sookie is so funny and her scenes are classic! Where are the scenes with Lorelei talking to Sookie in the town square and Sookie giving advice that might not be the best advice ever, but it’s covered with lots ‘o love! Actually, while writing that I just thought, the first episode this season I was asking where Lane was, the second episode we saw Lane, but Emily and Richard were still missing, third episode; Emily and Richard are back, so maybe we’ll get some Sookie scenes soon (sorry, I had to do it!).
I apologize for such a short entry this week, I had midterms this week so my mind has been in ‘programmer’ mode, I swear I’ll be back to chatty Cathy next week!

What You Really Get For 'Making Whoopee'

Tuesday's episode of 'Gilmore Girls' could have served as a PSA for abstinence. We were shown two scenarios for what could happen after makin' a little 'whoopee'. I won't make you wait for it, Lane's pregnant. After her and Zach's less than stellar trip to Mexico she wasn't feeling too great. Zach had gotten a parasite south of the border and they both believed that Lane had one too. Which, scientifically speaking, she does have one...only it's of the human zygote variety. I’m not sure if I’m excited for Lane or worried for her, but it’s a great storyline and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

How great was the scene between Luke and Kirk!? Kirk had on a red baseball cap and a red flannel shirt and was running an outdoor diner named….wait for it…Kirk’s! He even had a ‘No Cell Phones’ sign, hand-painted and everything just like Luke’s! It was classic ‘Gilmore Girls’ fare.

We also got to see Luke and Lorelei meet up in the town square and then again outside of town at a large supermarket. Luke told Lorelei that they would just turn back the hands of time and she could hook up with Christopher and he’d go back to being ‘just be the guy that pours your coffee’. It’s all so Normal Rockwell, but we all know it won’t turn out that way…and personally, I can’t wait to see how it does play out.

Lorelei was caught almost red-handed by Rory when Christopher left a message on the answering machine about his and Lorelei’s night of….you know the word, folks….whoopee! Rory laid into Lorelei just like any red-blooded American girl would have done if her mother had done the same thing, Gilmore or not and then ran over to Lane’s where she found out Lane was pregnant. In another classic ‘Gilmore’ scene Rory and Lane laid in Lane’s bed and created a story using celebrity’s crazy baby names.

You know, I’m probably the only viewer in North America that actually likes it when Rory and Lorelei are at odds. Granted, by the end of the show Rory and Lorelei were laying on the couch together and all was well once again. But I really like the emotion that Rory shows towards her mother when her mother does something that Rory doesn’t agree with.

I have to say that David Rosenthal has done an excellent job! Honestly, if I hadn’t read on another TV site that Amy Sherman-Palladino had left, I never would have noticed. It’s really that good. And maybe, dare I say that it’s a little bit better? It seem that the characters are a little deeper and have a bit more emotion behind them than they did before. Or, maybe, just maybe it’s me and the placebo effect…I’m just making it all up in my head! At any rate, I am loving my ‘Girls’ and don’t really see the show ending any time soon, which is great for those of us who are hopelessly addicted!

The Girls got it Right Again

Last night’s premiere of the 7th season of Gilmore Girls was excellent! Even with Sherman-Palladino leaving and Rosenthal as the new head writer, Girls didn’t miss a beat! The dialogue was quick-witted and the characters unchanged. I loved every minute of it! The only hiccup I saw was that Rory was shown waking up when, if you remember from the finale, she was already awake and seeing Logan off (but let’s cut Rosenthal some slack and say she went back to bed). Lorelei woke up rather early to go back home, when again, during the finale we saw Christopher see Gigi off to school. But other than that one small inconsistency everything ran smoothly last night.
The only thing that wasn't so great last night were the ratings;
From mediaweek.com:

In season-premiere news, the CW’s Gilmore Girls opened on a below average note with a 4.0/ 6 in the overnights (#4), 4.56 million viewers (#4) and a 2.0/ 6 among adults 18-49 (#5) at 8 p.m. Compared to its year-ago opener on the WB (Overnights: 5.3/ 8; Viewers: 6.22 million; A18-49: 2.8/ 8 on Sept. 13, 2005), that was a decrease of 26 percent in the overnights, 1.66 million viewers and 29 percent among adults 18-49. Worth noting for Gilmore Girls, however, was a third-place finish in the time period among women 18-34 (3.5/10).

This is probably due to House being on at the same time, and we all should know by now that House, even though this addict doesn't care for the show at all, is a VERY popular show. But enough about business and doom and gloom, let's talk about Stars Hollow, shall we!?

Rory headed back to Stars Hollow for the summer, Lorelei finalized her break up with Luke and tried to understand her night with Christopher. Christopher thought that because of that fateful night he and Lorelei had taken their relationship to a new level, but after inviting Lorelei over for dinner and her rejecting him he realized that their relationship might be unchanged. Rory tried to find the meaning of the two foot tall rocket that Logan had left with her (it turned out to be a reference from his favorite ‘Twilight Zone’ episode) and both The Girls tried their hand at racquet ball (which in itself was one of the funnier scenes from last night).
We ended with Luke driving to Lorelei’s house and pouring his soul out to her and asking her to elope with him (he had things all planned and the truck was packed! How sweet!). Lorelei tried to stop him, to no avail, then blurted out “I slept with Christopher last night.” to which Luke replied by turning around and getting into his truck and driving off. It was rough to watch that final scene from last night, but the previews for next week kept me from bawling my eyes out.

All in all it was a great premiere! Rosenthal did a great job with his first script and I’m happy to say that I still love Gilmore Girls and even though it’s sad to see Sherman-Palladino gone, you really can’t tell, at least not from last night’s episode. Next week’s previews showed us a little more of what Rosenthal has on his mind for the residents of Stars Hollow. Luke makes a comment to Lorelei that is nothing short of condescending and almost rude (“You’re the one who asked me to marry you!”), which in my opinion, shows the difference between a woman writer and a male’s perspective on the relationships and characters. I have to say that I don’t believe that line would have been written with Sherman-Palladino on the job, but that is just an assumption on my part. I think Luke has always been written as a timid man with a big heart, and a short fuse with strangers, but a ton of compassion for those he knows and cares about. So, that line sort of took me off guard, but I want to see the whole episode before making any more rash judgments!
And can I just say it was so nice to see Paris back and acting as over-the-top as ever! I’ve missed Paris and hope we get to see more of her! And hopefully we'll get some more of Lane and her new marriage!

The Girls are Returning, are you ready?

Tonight is the return of Gilmore Girls, in its 7th season premiering tonight we catch up with Lorelei and Rory Gilmore. Last season we saw Lorelei propose to Luke (he accepted) and Rory and Logan got back together. Luke found out that he has a daughter, a small little tidbit that he hid from Lorelei for three months (!!!). I TiVo’d the season finale last week and watched it again just to refresh myself…….see, Gilmore Girls is my all-time favorite show, EVER! I always greet the credits with a smile, not because the show has ended, but because I’m content…it’s a perfect show and it always leaves me with a smile on my face and reminds me that if even for just one hour a week, I can feel like all is right with the world….ahhhhhh wax poetic over with on to the recap!

If you recall the final episode, Lorelei gave Luke an ultimatum, to which he replied that he couldn’t make that decision and he needed time and Lorelei just gave up and ran to Chris (Rory’s father). Rory gave Logan an awesome going away bash for his upcoming trip to Britain, where he will be working for his father for a year. The final scenes were Lorelei in Chris’ bed, where Gigi (Chris’ daughter) walked in and asked “Who’s that!? Is she sick? I don’t like to wear clothes when I’m sick either.” Chris quickly told her it was Aunt Lorelei and had the nanny take Gigi to school. Rory woke up late as Logan was telling her goodbye. We left with Rory standing in the doorway of the apartment watching the elevator doors close in front of Logan, off to visit the other side of the pond. And Chris climbed back into bed with Lorelei and put his arm around her.

What’s in store for this season? From the previews; we see that Lorelei and Luke finalize their breakup, I’m not sure where Rory is heading…I’m thinking we’re going to be focused on Lorelei for a while. The writers have a great chance here to keep the show alive by switching gears from Lorelei taking care of Rory to Rory taking care of Lorelei in her phase of relationship woes. We’ll have to wait and see where they take these loveable characters, but if you’ve been reading the news you might know that Amy Sherman Palladino and her husband, Daniel both left the show. Amy was the showrunner for Gilmore Girls and has been reported as going over each script to make sure that they were crafted just as she had in her mind. It was even reported that she modeled the character Lorelei after herself….so where does that leave the show when the brainchild of the whole thing is no longer active with it? There is a full report over at Play.Adn if you want to check it out;
http://www.adn.com/play/columns/tv/story/8220848p-8117621c.html

But, have no fear….we’ll have a great 7th season to enjoy, I’m sure! And always keep in mind; all good things must come to an end and with Rory in college and about to graduate, where could The Girls go next? Stars Hollow can’t keep those quick-witted, smart, sassy, pop-culture-lovin’ girls for long. But let’s enjoy the time we’re given before The Girls grow up and move on.

Also, if you just cannot wait for tonight, here is the Ausiello Report on The Girls…he really liked the premiere, as have almost everyone else that I’ve read who have seen it! It’s sure to be a great night of TV tonight!

Sayid the Torturer! Plus, Lorelai Loves the Vineyard in the Winter

The hatch is back! I can't even begin to express my complete elation over the return of the hatch on last night's episode of Lost. And we were so close to finding out what happens if you don't push the button in time. I so wanted to know, but they pulled a fast one on us as Locke hit the "execute" button right after the weird red and black images appeared and warning sounds began to flare. Bummer! Was anyone able to make out what those images were of? I rewound my TiVo and did a frame-by-frame analysis, figuring that I was missing something, but you could only see three of the five images clearly, and it wasn't too clear as to what they were. I could make out something that looked like a bird, another that looked like a rifle or stick and another that seemed like a flame or razor (depending on which way you saw it). I'm sure there's some sort of meaning to it all, but I haven't a clue as to what it could be. The whole almost-meltdown happened because Locke was preoccupied with Jack who was angry that he had changed the combination to the now-empty armory in order to allow Sayid privacy and time to properly interrogate the strange captive who claimed to have crashed on the island with his wife in a hot air balloon. Whew! So, is this captive one of The Others? Hard to tell, but he definitely seems to be lying about something. Plus, actor Michael Emerson seems to play a lot of bad guys (anyone remember him as the psychotic killer in The Practice?). The crux of the episode hinged on Sayid's past as a torturer for the U.S. military during the first Gulf War. He started out working in the intelligence division of the Iraqi army until the U.S. captured him and showed him that his commanding officer was responsible for the sarin gas attack on a village where his loved ones lived. Armed with that knowledge, Sayid tortured his former commanding officer to learn what had happened to an American pilot who was shot down. He had made a pact with himself that he would never torture again, but an American agent promised him that there would be a time when he would need to use the skills he learned from torturing his former commanding officer. Enter the time when he needs the skills and he began to revert back. While he was working with the Americans, Sayid actually met Kate's dad. We see a U.S. soldier looking at a photo of his daughter, and then we see the photo is of Kate, so yet another connection before these survivors met on the island. One last thought on last night's outing, the show lost a few points and Sawyer is now on my dislike list for squishing that poor, innocent frog. I'm still not over it!

As promised, I watched Tuesday's episode of Gilmore Girls last night. I have a question for all the ladies reading this, are you OK with Luke's improvised gift? Because if I found out that my fiance hadn't brought a gift for me on our Valentine's weekend in Martha's Vineyard, but my daughter's boyfriend had bought two gifts for her, and therefore, my fiance accepted one of them to give to me, I'd be not-so-happy. I would much rather said fiance just didn't give me anything, especially since Luke's not a big proponent of the holiday, than give me a gift that was not intended for me. I'm only a casual viewer of this show, but I have a feeling that Lorelai is not going to be happy either if she finds out. It did set up a funny scene, though, with Rory pointing out how similar her tennis bracelet is to "Lorelai's" necklace, and just the look on Lorelai's face when Luke knew that it was a tennis bracelet. Luke's assertion to Lorelai that they will get married was really sweet, and I liked the way the writers have Lorelai wanting to be OK with the revelation that Luke has a daughter, but not quite pulling it off. You can tell that she's telling herself that she's fine, but realizing that she's not. The ending scene with Lorelai checking her messages and finding out that her mother had, in true Emily Gilmore style, placed the wedding announcement in the paper set up an interesting dilemma for future episodes. Now that her extended family thinks the wedding will take place June 3rd, what will Lorelai do? It should be interesting to watch it unfold. As I mentioned above, I'm only a casual viewer, but I don't get Logan. Sometimes he seems OK, and other times he seems a little snooty and completely devoid of a backbone when it comes to his father. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Asia isn't happening, so I hope Rory doesn't get too married to the idea because she'll just end up disappointed.

QUICK CUTS

*Fox's American Idol is down to 24 finalists (12 men, 12 women) after last night's episode. The 12 women include the 17-year old granddaughter of Ann Nesby (former lead singer for the gospel choir Sounds of Blackness) from Fayetteville, GA; a 17-year old basketball player with a athletic scholarship to Boston College from Wrentham, MA and a 16-year old former member of the Los Angeles cast of The Lion King musical from Anaheim, CA. The 12 men competing for a spot in the combined final 12 include a 27-year old diabetic on an insulin pump from Richmond, VA; a 16-year old who has sung for two presidents from The Woodlands, TX and a 16-year old Clay Aiken-type with a similar big voice from Levittown, NY. The women open the next round of competition next Tuesday on Fox, and the men begin next Wednesday. The live results shows, where two people will be eliminated, will air every Thursday.

*And finally, the second season finale of Sci Fi's popular Battlestar Galactica win run 90 minutes. In keeping with the show's style, it will also end in a cliffhanger. Production on the third season will begin in April with Lucy Lawless set to appear for a 10-episode arc. The second season finale airs Friday, March 10th at 10 p.m. For more on the finale (including spoilers), click on over to The Futon Critic.

That's all for today. Be sure to tune in tomorrow for thoughts on Everybody Hates Chris and Dancing with the Stars (It's down to the final four!). Plus, all the latest television news. Veronica's Adventures in Babysitting! Plus, the Tale of the Tailies and Your Requests Answered!

Buckle your seatbelts and hold on tight because this edition of Pass the Remote is fully loaded and revved up with plenty of extras! I've even got a section devoted to your requests! But before we get to those, let's talk about last night's awesome display of television. Do you ever watch Veronica Mars and just sit there and marvel at the way it can cover so much ground and so many different, important things in a single hour without cheating anything? Usually, when a show jams that much stuff into an episode, it ends up never fully developing any of the plots and the viewers are left feeling a little cheated and empty. I paid special attention to Veronica's fantastic ability to avoid this pitfall last night so I could try and figure out how this show covers so many storylines so well, but I couldn't figure it out no matter how hard I tried. The show is just a freak of television, and I mean that in the best way. How funny was Kendall's reaction to being cheated out of Dick senior's money? I loved how she tried to play nice with Logan just so he would be her sugar daddy. When that didn't work, she moved on to Duncan. Okay, time for a poll. How many of you think Duncan behaved himself and sent Kendall and her "hot" (his word) naked self out of his room? How many of you think something happened? Leave me a comment with your thoughts. Speaking of Duncan, I'm dying to know what was in that envelope that he pulled out of Meg's vent! Anyway, on to the Veronica-helps-Logan storyline. So, shady plastic surgeon man is posing as the eye witness to Logan's mishap with Weevil's gang, but why? Veronica thought she had followed said plastic surgeon to a normal cigar shop, but later found out through good old dad that the shop was a front for a drug ring. Is shady plastic surgeon a part of it? Maybe Weevil's gang found out and decided to black mail the not-so-good doctor. Or, maybe he was legitimately buying some cigars. Logan's mystery deepens. How creepy were all the families that Veronica babysat for? That one father and his weird comments after seeing Veronica out was just bizarre. Turns out, Meg's abuse investigation hit closer to home, like the room next store. Her younger sister Grace was forced to live in a small room adjacent to her closet and write "righteous" statements in composition books. I'm glad Lamb seems to be on the case. Hopefully, he'll do more with this than the little to no effort he has put into the bus investigation. Man, this show is so good, it boggles the mind!

Was anyone else slightly disappointed in the tale of the tailies last night on Lost? The previews made this look really interesting, but I didn't realize that all the interesting scenes were in the previews. I found it a little slow. I don't know, maybe it was that extra four minutes of commercials, I mean, show. The days flew by, but there were some days that they showed us where nothing really happened. Well, let's not dwell on the negative and move on to the positive instead. So, Ethan wasn't the only imposter, as we learned last night that the tailies had Goodwin. Ana-Lucia jumped to the wrong conclusion when she assumed the imposter was Nathan, but she did get some interesting information from Goodwin. He suggested that "The Others" may not be taking survivors to do them harm. He also told her that they are only taking the "good" people, hence the reason for the children. Have we been wrong about "The Others" all along? Probably not after seeing Goodwin snap Nathan's neck without blinking an eye. We also learned that one of "them" was carrying a U.S. Army knife that was at least twenty years old. If you think back to the Dharma Initiative, you'll remember that it started in 1980, twenty-five years ago. Coincidence? Probably not on this show. Oh, and remember Boone's cryptic message when he used the radio he found on a crashed plane? Well, now we know where that came from! Interesting forethought on the writers' part. I thought this episode added some more insight into Ana-Lucia's character, whom I know a lot of you are hating. She has been through a lot, and that's just from what we know about her life on the island. The producers are promising us an upcoming Ana-Lucia episode, so I'm sure we'll learn even more in the coming weeks.

I've gotten some requests from you, the readers, lately, and as a full service blog, Pass the Remote feels that it is only right that it fulfills said requests. Think of it as the NBC heart warmer Three Wishes in blog form. Anywho, some of you wanted to see recaps of Gilmore Girls episodes, and since I don't usually get a chance to catch this show, I've decided to provide you with an easy link to TV Guide's Watercooler page. This is what they had to say about this week's episode (it goes without saying, but skip this recap if you haven't seen the episode and don't want to know what happens):

In many ways, this homecoming ep was hardly a surprise. If you paid attention to the teasers, you knew Rory would be coming back home. And if you read any of the spoilers, you knew Luke would find out he has a daughter. But you know what? It really doesn't matter. It's the way these stories unfold and reveal themselves that has us totally addicted. Who would ever guess that April would seek out Luke not for a relationship but for a middle-school science experiment about DNA? (In true hangdog fashion, Luke looked completely blindsided when he saw his mug circled on her poster board. Helluva way to find out you're the daddy of a brainy 12-year-old.) And while we knew Rory was tip-toeing closer and closer back to Lorelai and Stars Hollow, I loved the confidence and the poise of her final leap. Who else but Rory Gilmore could land a great job because she patiently sat in the lobby every day with her gigantic portfolio (all three of them), and worked it every time the editor-in-chief walked by? And they weren't even hiring! Her confidence has returned, she's enrolled at Yale and she's mended her relationship with her mother. Everything is right with the world. Sort of. There's this matter with Luke and the kid. (Nothing says "let's get married" quite like "hey, I have a child I didn't know about!") And then there's Emily. During my favorite scene of the hour, she confessed to pushing both Lorelai and Rory away. (A confession that occurred mid-purchase of a private jet, mind you. But I'll take it.) Instead of telling her that she deserved it, that she was a horrible mother for throwing her out of the house when she got pregnant, leaving her to raise Rory alone, then snatching her away the first chance she got, Lorelai paused. Turned around. And quietly said, "You haven't lost me." Totally unexpected. Totally surprising. Wow, what a great show. — Robin Honig

Again, that recap is from TVGuide.com. Another thing that you guys are buzzing about is this upcoming episode of Medium in 3-D. All of the TV Guide subscribers received one free pair of 3-D glasses with the latest issue, but what if you have more than one person in your house that enjoys Medium and doesn't want to miss out on the 3-D fun? Well, NBC's web site isn't much help I'm afraid. It instructs you to visit a special Sprint promotional event in your city for a free pair, but the list of cities is severely lacking! A visit to Sprint's web site doesn't provide any help.Unfortunately, TV Guide's web site isn't any help either. It appears that the only way to get another pair is to buy NBC merchandise and receive a free pair, but there's certainly no guaranteee you'll receive them in time, or you can run out to your local newsstand and purchase another copy of the November 21st edition of TV Guide. The best option might be to record the episode and take turns with the single pair TV Guide provided. I have to wonder what happens to all the people who don't subscribe to TV Guide and didn't want to buy an issue just for the glasses? And you guys wonder why I'm not the biggest fan of gimmicks.

About Last Night... CBS captured the first hour of the night with its special Johnny Cash tribute, I Walk the Line, followed by NBC's E-Ring and ABC comedies George Lopez and Freddie. At 9, ABC's Lost easily won, followed by CBS's Criminal Minds and Fox's Trading Spouses. UPN's Veronica Mars landed in fifth, in front of the WB. The final hour of the night went to CBS's CSI: NY, followed by Law & Order on NBC and Invasion on ABC. For more on last night's ratings, visit Zap2it.

~Primetime Pass~
@8 p.m. - Syd and the rest of APO work to uncover whom Gordon Dean works for while Sloane fights the group that claims to have the cure for Nadia on ABC's Alias. Over on UPN, Julius finds $200 worth of food stamps, but Rochelle is too embarrassedd to use them on Everybody Hates Chris. Taylor causes a major rift between Seth and Summer on Fox's The O.C.

@9 p.m. - CBS's CSI wraps up its excellent two-part episode involving a shoot out with cops and suspects. Tonight, the evidence points more and more toward a case of friendly fire. Over on the WB, Amy and Bright prepare for Hannah's impending departure, Jake takes a high-risk bike trip with a friend, Reid keeps his promise to Ephram, and Harold and Andy do something completely unexpected on Everwood.

@10 p.m. - The team searches for a missing 15 year old boy, but this episode of CBS's Without A Trace is different from others. Instead of the usual format where the episode is told through the perspective of the agents, this one is told through the parents of the missing boy. Over on NBC, it's the biggest stunt to ever stunt as the ER doctors find themselves dealing with the aftermath of a plane crash. John Stamos guest stars.

QUICK CUTS
