Bell 'Again'!
For those of us still missing the fabulous Veronica Mars (and watching the DVDs over and over again while running on the treadmill every day is beginning to make you worry that you just might wear them out someday and THAT would be a major catastrophe -- Oh, that's just me? Never mind then), good news about her fabulous portrayer Kristen Bell. Her new movie You Again has a premiere date, poster and trailer!! The poster to the left is courtesy of Kristen-B.net. In the comedy, Kristen plays a young career woman whose brother is getting married. But when she realizes that the woman he's marrying is the same person who made her life miserable in high school, she sets out to reveal the woman's true colors. It also stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver and the always hilarious Betty White. It doesn't come out until September, so we have a couple months to wait (which is good because I'm almost at the end of season 2 where Veronica has figured out that Weevil was somehow involved in Thumper's "disappearance" and she's trying to tie the Fitzpatricks to the bus crash, so this should give me time to wrap up seasons 2 and 3 plunging me into a Veronica void which should be somewhat filled by this Kristen Bell movie -- Again, just me?). In any event, check out the trailer after the jump.

Busy Bell
PTR Fave Kristen Bell is a very busy actress these days. She's currently starring on the big screen in Couples Retreat, she got animated in the newly-released Astro Boy, she has When in Rome and You Again coming out next year and she just signed on to join Christina Aguilera on the big screen in Burlesque. And if you've been to your local newsstand recently, you've probably seen that she's lighting up the covers of several magazines. One of them, Women's Health, interviewed Kristen for its November issue while she and her four-legged friends went on a hike outside Los Angeles. The magazine discovered something that we long-time fans have known for a long time...

Bell of the Big Screen
We here at PTR have a very narrow format: TV. And we don't deviate from that format except when something (or someone) from TV collides with another element. Such is the case next year when PTR fave Kristen Bell (star of one of TV's Best! Shows! EVAH! -- Veronica Mars) once again takes to the big screen in her new romantic comedy When In Rome. She plays an unlucky-in-love young woman whose luck changes when she takes some coins out of a fountain in Rome (where she is visiting for her sister's wedding). The film doesn't hit theaters until next year, but here is the official trailer for the comedy:
When in Rome is slated to land in theaters in January. For more info on the movie, visit Yahoo! Movies.

'When in Rome' Part Deux
Last week, PTR brought you some photos of Kristen Bell shooting her new film When in Rome on the streets of NYC. Well, she was back in action this week -- this time in Central Park. In the film, Kristen plays an art curator being pursued by wannabe suitors after she steals coins from the Roman Fountain. The scene in these photos, shot May 19th, shows someone in hot pursuit of her character.

When in Rome is scheduled to hit theaters sometime next year.

PTR Fave Kristen Bell is in New York shooting her latest film When in Rome. In the romantic comedy, Kristen plays an art curator who finds herself pursued by a band of wannabe lovers after she steals coins from a Roman fountain. It co-stars Josh Duhamel, Dax Sheppard, Will Arnett and heavy hitters Anjelica Huston and Danny DeVito. Thanks to the Superior Pictures Forum, here are a few photos of Kristen and Josh Duhamel shooting in the Big Apple May 7th.

Bell's Peachy Cover
PTR fave and newly minted movie star Kristen Bell (her comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall just opened in 2nd place this past weekend) is on the cover of the current issue of Atlanta's Peach Magazine. In the article, she discusses her rising fame, the paparazzi, and what she'll be wearing on her wedding night some day. Here is the full text of the story:Clear As a Bell
Kristen Bell's unpretentious Midwestern grounding keeps her unfazed by Hollywood and her own rising stardom
By E.C. Gladstone
Exclusive Photos by Steve Erle
This woman is going to make someone a fantastic wife.
It’s not the first thought you’d expect to come to mind for a young Hollywood hottie, and when it does, smack in the middle of a late-afternoon chat with television (and soon, big-screen) sweetheart Kristen Bell, I actually blurt it out loud.
“Hey, thanks!” Bell responds, so sincerely that it only cements the image.
And it isn’t just because of the 27-year-old blonde’s shimmering eyes and mood-altering smile. Or her charmingly breathless tardy arrival at our meeting—dressed Annie Hall-style in a straw fedora, navy jacket and Ugg boots—explaining that she just got back from an overnight trip on the back of “a friend’s” motorcycle. Kristen’s marryability has more to do with her impressively centered sense of self, her equal appreciation for subjects serious and silly, and her enthusiasm for what she admits might be considered “boring” activities.
“I love to go on walks, I love to knit,” she lists. “My roommate Amy and I love to find different Martha Stewart recipes out of Real Simple magazine.” Her idea of a perfect Sunday is getting coffee and a newspaper and hitting some hot open houses. Last summer, rather than go clubbing, the former star of Veronica Mars and new cast member of über-hot Heroes convinced her friends to join in an overnight camping trip in her backyard, a wildlife-filled wonderland in the Hollywood Hills.
Clearly grounded with Midwestern values, this Michigan native also admits she’s both thrifty with her spending (she succumbed to the urge for Christian Louboutin heels only this year) and conservationist. She brings her own bags to the grocery store and grabs the soaps and shampoos when she stays in fancy hotels. In car-obsessed L.A., she proudly drives a Saturn. “I have so many beautiful things in my life, material or otherwise,” she explains, “that to keep indulging makes me feel almost uncomfortable.”
We meet at M Café de Chaya, the kind of place where K-Bell (as friends call her) is quickly recognized not as someone famous but as a regular. The macrobiotic luncheonette (ironically, just spewing distance from Hollywood’s favorite artery-clogger, Pink’s hot dogs) is a slice of heaven for this long-time vegetarian who has no need to seek out the limelight.
Her new film, Forgetting Sarah Marshall—in which Bell plays the title character—is “by far the biggest movie I’ve ever done,” she says, which has led her to an unfamiliar and slightly exhausting amount of self-promotion. Diving into the world of producer Judd Apatow’s improv comedies was “phenomenally intimidating,” Kristen confesses, but shooting at the Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu helped allay her anxieties. “It was be-yootiful,” Kristen says with a sparkle, singling out experiences like yoga on the beach and swimming with horses (both for scenes that were cut from the film) as the most memorable. Not that she’s complaining, but Bell, who also shot her three seasons of Veronica Mars on the beaches of San Diego, isn’t much of a surf-and-sand person in real life.
“Noooo. I think I’m the only person in Los Angeles that doesn’t appreciate the weather,” she says. “I’m from Detroit, and I love the cold. I love bundling up. It makes me feel secure. I get intimidated by a really sunshiny day, because it’s like, now we have to do something outside, we have to do something relaxing. I always get really excited when it rains, or when it’s hot-chocolate weather, because there’s no expectations.” When asked if she’d rather be back in New York (where she attended NYU for two years before getting her Broadway break), Bell answers “yes” so quickly you’d think she’s on a game show.
And as you read this, she’s spending three months in the Big Apple filming When in Rome. Her only regret about returning there is having to leave her canine housemates—two rescued corgi mixes named Lola and Mr. Shakes, as well as Sadie, a Labrador-retriever refugee from Hurricane Katrina. “I’m a homebody,” confesses Kristen, who’s equally enthused about video games (Guitar Hero, Rock Band…Mariocart!) and good books (on her night table: Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and Mark Haddon’s A Spot of Bother).
Bell’s childhood sounds refreshingly normal, with a few asterisks—such as the fact that she wanted to change her name to Smurfette, or Matthew, at age four (she also gave all her dolls male names, including Kevin, a pink rag doll she still keeps on her bed). Eventually she settled on answering to Annie (her middle name, which is what her family still calls her). Her most rebellious act at Catholic school—at least that she’ll admit—was rolling her skirt too high to pass the “pop-can” test.
When it comes to her physical attributes, Kristen is more proud of being chosen “Queen of Geek Chic” by Geek magazine than her rankings in more mainstream men’s magazines. “I think it’s the ultimate flattery,” she says. “Because the definition of geeks, it’s people who like what they like ‘cause they like it. They’re not trying to fit in.” It probably didn’t hurt that she had a role in Fanboys (shot in 2006, but just released recently), playing the cutest Star Wars freak you’ve never met. She also provided narration and a body scan to the videogame Assassin’s Creed. “That’s for real gamers,” she says, “and I’m not even going to attempt to claim that that’s me.”
Bell is a geek in her own right—of the musical-theater type. In March, she and Heroes co-star Zach Quinto got to live out a minor fantasy, performing a number from Bye Bye Birdie at an Alzheimer charity benefit. “We’ve been dying to sing together. We sing [current Broadway musical] Spring Awakening in the car all the time,” she confesses, admitting her iPod play list could easily be mistaken for that of your average gay man. “I really want to go back to Broadway and go do a classic musical, do some Sondheim.”
Almost instinctively, the moment Kristin’s sweet sincerity feels like it’s starting to cause cavities (apparently everyone she’s ever worked with is the most wonderful person on earth), she’ll turn serious and deftly fend off any inquiries into her romantic life, which may or may not involve fellow Michigan export Dax Shepard.
“My personal life is not your business,” Kristen says politely as she plays with the modest gold-heart pendant around her neck. “It’s not something that I want on display.” Bell says that is for her own sanity. “I don’t ever want to completely lose a sense of myself and totally become what the public sees.” She is made anxious by the phenomenon of “becoming important to people you don’t know.” The narrator of television’s Gossip Girl doesn’t begrudge the paparazzi—too much. “You can definitely shield yourself from them. What you can’t do is outrun them. They are the fiercest drivers you’ve ever seen. They put everyone else on the road at risk.” As for the photogs who regularly camp outside her house, she shakes her head. “Why does anybody care what I’m getting at Ralph’s [supermarket]? That’s not interesting. Who cares!?” What interests Bell more is doing what she can to help Invisible Children, an organization started by friends to rescue and rehabilitate juvenile warriors in Uganda. She’s also a spokesperson for the Helen Woodward Animal Center, an animal shelter based in Santa Fe.
“I’ve had a lot of very, very lucky breaks, and I’m very grateful for them,” she says. Her first, arguably, was getting the dual roles of a banana and a tree in a suburban-Detroit Raggedy Ann & Andy musical at age 11. When she scored the part of Becky Thatcher in the Broadway musical version of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (which led her to leave school after her sophomore year), she reveals, “I ran up and down the hallway of my building crying.” Just three days after arriving in Los Angeles she landed an appearance on hot cable drama The Shield. And more recently, she wormed her way into what’s become an increasingly significant role on Heroes, after meeting some of the show’s writers and confessing she was a “psycho fan.”
Bell admits the perception of her in Hollywood may present some limitations. “I’m not pretty enough to play the pretty girl and not homely enough to play the awkward girl,” she says, but she’s thrilled to have already portrayed such varied characters in nearly every genre and every medium. “I don’t ever want to play the same role over and over again. I don’t want my value to go up because of who I am as Kristen Bell. I want to remain an actress.”
There’s just one more thing her future husband will want to know. Does she still have her Catholic-school uniform? “Oh, sure. I tucked that away when I was 18. I’m gonna wear it on my wedding night!”

Premiering 'Sarah Marshall'
If you've been watching the talk shows this week, then you know that PTR Fave Kristen Bell has been making the rounds promoting her new comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall. David Letterman, Regis & Kelly, The Today Show, TRL are just some of the places she has stopped by so far. And her tour isn't over yet -- look for her to pop up on Rachael Ray and Craig Ferguson tomorrow. Last week, though, she was in LA for the premiere of the comedy which also stars How I Met Your Mother's Jason Segel. She plays the title character in the film about a man trying to forget the girl who just dumped him. Of course, it's difficult to forget someone when they're staying in your exact same hotel in Hawaii. Anywho, here are some more pictures from the premiere (all photos courtesy Getty Images/Wire Image):

Getting Back to the 'Gossip'
By LillyKatPTR Senior Staff Writer
OMFG.
Gossip Girl is back with brand new episodes beginning Monday, April 21st at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. Central) on the CW.
For those not in the know, the show is based on the popular novel series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar and revolves around the lives of socialite young adults growing up on New York's Upper East Side who attend elite academic institutions. Featuring an ensemble cast, the series is narrated by a seemingly omniscient character, Gossip Girl (voiced by PTR Fave Kristen Bell), who runs a blog about her fellow Upper East Siders — consequently stirring the plot and creating potential rivalries in this exclusive and vicious circle of friends.
Check out the official Gossip Girl Web site for the scoop on the series.

PTR Faves Shine on TV's Biggest Night
Even though I skipped "The Awards that Shall Not Be Mentioned" this year due to the atrocious snubbing of so many deserving television actors and shows, some PTR faves did not. And while my little one-blogger boycott continues, it does not extend to the wonderful folks who give me something to write about week after week. Here's a montage of some PTR faves attending television's biggest night this past Sunday evening in Los Angeles.

'Heroes' Rings Bell
File this under BEST. NEWS. EVER!!! From Yahoo! News:
Kristen Bell to appear on NBC's 'Heroes'
By MIKE HOUSEHOLDER, Associated Press Writer
Mon Aug 20, 4:13 PM ET
DETROIT - Kristen Bell is going from solving mysteries to being a part of one. The 27-year-old actress, who starred for three seasons as teenage detective Veronica Mars on the now-canceled show of the same name, will appear in a multi-episode arc on NBC's "Heroes" this fall.
"This was not easy to pull off. But since we're an ensemble show, with many arcs playing out through the year, we found a way to jump into a small window in her schedule," Tim Kring, the show's executive producer and creator, said in a statement Monday.
Kring said Bell's character, Elle, will appear in October and will be "a sexy, intriguing, mysterious young lady" who will commit a terrible crime, but it won't be clear whose side she is really on.
"Heroes" won't be the Detroit-area native's only TV work this fall.
She's providing the voice of the narrator (something she also did on "Veronica Mars") for the CW's new "Gossip Girl."
Bell also has some big-screen projects in the works, including a turn as the title character in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," a comedy produced by Judd Apatow ("The 40 Year-Old Virgin," "Knocked Up").
Well Kristen fans, we may have missed out on seeing her on Lost, but seeing her on Heroes this fall is just as awesome!! (Photo courtesy Kristen Bell:: Online)
UPDATED: Read Kristen's exclusive interview on her new role (HINT: she has "a really awesome power," but she can't spill the beans and the best news -- she's committed to 13 episodes!!) , turning down Lost and the possibility of a Veronica Mars film with TVGuide's Mike Ausiello.

UPDATE: Bell's Not Getting 'Lost'
Well, our prayers to the TV gods were not answered this time. TV Guide's Mike Ausiello is now reporting that PTR fave Kristen Bell WILL NOT be joining the cast of ABC's Lost when it returns next winter. And we can all blame it on Hawaii. Or is it Broadway? From his Ausiello Report:Did Kristen Bell say no to Lost because she's planning a trip to Broadway? That's the buzz along the Great White Way. One of my Broadway moles tells me that Bell could be replacing Laura Bell Bundy in Legally Blonde this February. K.Bell, who was forced to turn down the lead in the new musical Xanadu due to her Veronica Mars duties, recently visited the show (click here to see pics) and a casting agent for the musical recently told TheaterMania.com that they are considering "adding a TV-based name to the cast in the not too distant future." And even the assertion from Bell's rep that her client "has no plans to do Legally Blonde at this time" would seem to leave open the possibility of a February start -- and it would certainly explain why she was reluctant to make another TV commitment (i.e. Lost). Just some food for thought. My original story follows...Bummer. If she's heading to Broadway early next year, though, I'm so there! (Photo courtesy Kristen Bell:: Online)
The greatest casting coup of the century was apparently not meant to be: A spokesperson for Kristen Bell, responding to my report in Wednesday's AA, notified me late last night that my BFF won't be joining Lost next season. Although her rep didn't provide a reason, I did a little digging and my sources say Bell -- who was formally approached by Lost execs this week -- turned down the gig primarily because she didn't want to relocate to Hawaii.

Bell to Get 'Lost?'
If this news comes to fruition, I might just forgive all of the unfair atrocities in the world of TV (NOT the Emmys, though). According to TVGuide's Mike Ausiello, Kristen Bell might be heading to ABC's Lost!!! Here's what he has so far:Question: Have you spoken to Darlton about having Kristen Bell on Lost? If you pull this off, I swear (and you have this in writing, with AA witnesses) that I will send you one case of Diet Raspberry Snapple for every episode of Lost that Kristen appears on. Hope you're up for the challenge!— ErinPlease, please, please let this be true!! Let's all collectively cross our fingers and say our prayers to the TV gods tonight. (Photo courtesy Kristen Bell:: Online)
Ausiello: You better get busy clipping them there Snapple coupons, Erin. And while you're at it, slap on a pair of Depends, 'cause this is the kind of exclusive casting prattle that causes mass piddling: I can tell you for a fact that Kristen's name has been brought up with regard to the new role of Charlotte, the hot twentysomething who is said to be "precocious, loquacious and funny... a very successful academic who also knows how to handle herself in the real world." Yep, sounds like our Kristen! The only question now is whether my in-demand BFF is ready to jump back into another series. And, if so, will the financial toll wrought by all those Snapple purchases force Erin to declare bankruptcy? Please, God, let the answer be "Yes!" to all of the above!

'Veronica' Teams Up with Killer Results
Bravo Veronica Mars, for fixing the mistakes that happened during this season's first mystery arc. The dean's murder went much more smoothly, and the resolution was low-key and perfect last night. I had that sinking feeling all episode that Tim was the mastermind behind the murder. He had read Veronica's perfect murder paper, and he had access to everything that Landry had access to, but I couldn't figure out why he would kill the dean and frame Landry. Enter a rather terse recorded phone conversation between his mentor and Pepperdine regarding Tim's application, and you have the perfect motive to accompany the (notso) perfect crime. It's too bad that Tim got cocky and got Veronica involved in the case because, otherwise, he was getting away with it. Even though the "dean's" parting message, "Goodbye cruel world," was a bit generic, Tim had to know that it would set off a serious alarm for Veronica considering that she had just written it in her perfect murder paper. I just loved the irony that Tim framed his professor in order
to get him back for the harsh reference he gave him, but his own cockiness sunk him in the end proving that Landry may not have been underselling his pupil. And it must have killed him that his biggest foil, whom he also thought he could fool and that's why he got her involved, is the one who uncovered his plot. It was Veronica at her best!
So, Sheriff Lamb is really dead. I realized this last week, but I was just hoping that I was wrong (for more on Lamb's death, check out Michael Muhney's interview with TVGuide.com's Mike Ausiello). I'm seriously going to miss his hilarious banter with Veronica and their nemesis-style relationship. Moving on (only because I must), Keith, rather Sheriff Mars, is the new lawman in town and that means that Veronica has even more access to the things that she shouldn't be sneaking into (and a free pass at red lights, but no siren). Of course, her sneaking is what uncovered the truth since she doesn't have to follow pesky laws that require things like warrants and prohibit breaking and entering. Unfortunately, there's nothing to protect her from her ex dating her friend. The scene where Logan asked her if he could ask out Parker broke my heart a little. It couldn't have been easy for Veronica either, but she was a real sport about it. I just wish that I could be the same about this hiatus until April! This show is too good to leave my TV radar for the next month or so.In related news, TVGuide.com has an interview with Kristen Bell on the hiatus, the new format when the show returns this spring (self-contained mysteries instead of an overarching one) and her new movie Fifty Pills. Check it out HERE.
