TVGuide Reports: Familiar Face Back on 'Case'

Score one for those of us who like our loose ends tidy-ed up. TVGuide.com is reporting:
Cupid's unfortunate misfire has turned into a big hit for Cold Case.

Bobby Cannavale, the star of ABC's short-lived romantic-comedy reboot, is now on his way back to the CBS procedural, sources tell TVGuide.com exclusively.

Cannavale will reprise his role of Det. Eddie Saccardo for at least three episodes, starting with the third episode of the upcoming Season 7.

The set-up for Eddie's encore? Det. Lilly Rush turns to her former lover in a time of need — this despite the fact that Saccardo is still undercover and close to cracking his big narcotics case.

Does this mean that Lil's finally going to settle down? I wouldn't place any bets, but it is nice to see the show continuing with the story line now that Cannavale is free again. Cold Case returns this fall at a new, later time: 10 p.m. Sunday nights on CBS.

"Det. Lilly Rush turns to her former lover in a time of need"

Interesting. If it was just for one episode then I'd say it was purely case related.

If it was for 2 episodes then I'd say it was another 2-parter.

3 episodes suggests a wider arc, brining up the greater possibility it involves personal issues.

I think this probably will mostly deal with Lilly after what had happened to her in the Season 6 finale.

She might be wanting to tell someone, probaby him. I don't think it will turn into the Scotty/ Frankie type of fling.

Seriously? Ugh. I don't know why I even still care, but I never could stand the Saccardo character. I would hope they don't drop the dad storyline, which was so nicely done in Season 6, and replace the current "male" in Lilly's life with nonsense from this arc. I'm afraid this may just be the final straw for me to completely stop watching the show.

Based on past seasons by the time they get to episode 3 they'll have long forgotten the whole "near death experience" thing.

I doubt this would turn into a soap opera, love lives aren't the basics of the storylines. The cases are, we have to just wait and see. Can't assume anything yet, this could be actually a good thing for her.

She might just need a friend, Saccardo might just be that and not a lover.

Why is he coming back?
Lilly doesn't need him. I think he should just stay away. Not come back as a friend. I don't think they make a good couple. I am so sick of the stupid love interest story-lines. Frankie got on my nerves but bringing back Saccardo makes me even more fustrated. They need to give her some one good for her otherwise don't give her anyone at all. She deserves better and not to have her heart broken in the end.
