The Scrubies are Back! The Scrubies are Back!

All is right in the world again because SCRUBS IS BACK!!! And so are the Scrubies! You may all jump for joy. Now that you've had the chance to express your excitement, let's take a look at all of the hilarious things from tonight's 6th season premiere. First of all, I should disclose that I was so excited to have my favorite comedy back, that they could have had the actors walking around spouting funny lines without any sort of story and I would have been happy. Luckily for the rest of you, this wasn't the case because we got the return of JD's half acre (including his magnificent porch) and all of the gay men that go along with it, an impromptu Vegas trip complete with The Blue Man Group, a running pop rocks (and soda) gag, Janitor's "New Ways to Annoy that Guy," Dr. Cox swearing off anger, Elliot's extreme baby rage, and a hilarious set of scenes involving Turk's new ringtone (*NSYNC's "Bye, Bye, Bye" -- and don't even try to tell me that you weren't rockin' out along with the gang from Sacred Heart). In other words, Scrubs is back in its usual fine form. And now, a look at tonight's best, funniest and all around awesome lines in this season's inaugural edition of the Scrubies.

The Scrubies
"Come on, you've gotta focus on the positives. For instance, the medical miracle that is one woman actually impregnating another woman. Shedaisy!" Dr. Cox to JD regarding the news that JD's girlfriend is pregnant

"Quick question, what does this outfit tell you?" Dr. Cox to his page-happy interns
"You are entering a Joe Piscopo look-alike contest?" Dr. Kelso

"Hardly seems like much of a punishment for the kid from Kenya. I mean, for God's sakes he can run all day." Dr. Cox to Carla regarding the laps he made his interns run for paging him

"What new kind of crazy is this?" Dr. Cox regarding Elliot's decision to treat her interns like babies

"Is this going to be like the time you quit drinking? Because that was the longest 20 minutes of my life!" Jordan to Dr. Cox regarding his decision to quit being so angry all the time

"Let's cut to the chase Freak Show. If you're a 44 year old man wearing a jumpsuit and you are not climbing into the cockpit of a rocket ship, chances are you made a lot of wrong turns along the way. Good talk." Dr. Kelso to Janitor.

That's this week's edition of the Scrubies. If you have a line that you would like to nominate for a Scrubie, drop me a comment and I'll publish it in a future edition. As always, if you would like to discuss last night's Scrubs episode, leave me a comment with your thoughts.

Thursday's Primetime Pass

~Primetime Pass~
(a look at what PTR is watching tonight)

BEST NEWS OF THE NIGHT:
Scrubs (9 p.m. NBC) - "My Mirror Image." TV's best comedy finally returns along with NBC's Thursday night comedy block. In the sixth season opener, JD (Zach Braff) is still reeling from the news that he is going to be a father. Meanwhile, Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) -- while readying himself for baby number two -- realizes that his constant anger may have future repercussions. Elsewhere, Turk (Donald Faison) and Carla (Judy Reyes) prepare for the arrival of their little one, while Elliot (Sarah Chalke) laments that she is the only one in the hospital not having a baby! The Blue Man Group guest stars.

My Name is Earl (NBC 8 p.m.) - "Born a Gamblin' Man." Number 146 on his list has Earl (Jason Lee) making 247 bologna sandwiches to make up for all the ones he stole from Kenny (guest star Gregg Binkley) in fifth and sixth grade. While delivering the sandwiches, Earl is struck by Kenny's obvious lack of machismo which then inspires Earl to take on a new mission -- to make Kenny a real man. While showing Kenny how to gamble like "real men," Earl discovers that his newfound karma is useful but soon finds it difficult to stop once hes on a roll.

Men in Trees (10 p.m. ABC) - "New York Fiction Part I." This show moves to its new night and time with a 2-parter. Emotions between Marin and Jack escalate when Marin goes home to New York during Thanksgiving week, where Jane has arranged for her to meet with various editors about publishing her new book. She is thrilled to be back in familiar surroundings but misses her life back in Elmo, particularly Jack. Meanwhile, Patrick must choose between spending Thanksgiving with Annie in New York or with his new family, and Ben hopes Theresa will help in the preparation of their annual Orphan Thanksgiving for Elmoians.

And a piece of good news today for fans of Veronica Mars. The show's conclusion to its first mystery of the season brought in big ratings for the little show that could. The episode, "Spit & Eggs," was watched by the second largest audience in the show's history according to a network press release. Even more impressive, the episode had the best 18-34 and 18-49 numbers ever! Let's hope the trend continues when the show returns next year.

Glib Gilmores? Atleat they're knitting!

PTR Staff Writer
***Sorry this is late, I have three sick kids who thought that mom REALLY needed to be sick too, preferably the day her English paper was due would be great! So I have been a little under the weather and writing A LOT...but here's the update, it may be a bit more snarky than usual, but I'm sick so I apologize!***

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but lately Gilmore Girls has just been sort of ‘ho-hum’ when it comes to storylines. They rushed Christopher and Lorelei into marriage; which was WAY out of character for Lorelei, she’s the indecisive one after all! Then Rory gets ‘mad’ but only for a few hours and after talking to her mother she decides that she can forgive her mother and father. It was just too clean and quick. Usually fights last days, sometimes weeks, heck one lasted half a season! But now, now it’s like Rosenthal forgot his medication and his ADD is kicking in and we’re just running through storylines left and right. Even my husband said “It’s like all the writers have all these great ideas and so they throw all the ideas into one episode instead of spacing it out over time.” He has a point.
This week we got to see Rory and Marty finally talk; and he revealed his true feelings for Rory. Show of hands, who saw that coming? And that was about it for Rory this week wasn’t it? Oh, she moved back in with Paris. At least we’ll get to see Paris more, but I’d like to see Lane and Zach. I was a young newlywed when I was pregnant and let me tell you that is one interesting first year of marriage, to be sure!
Lorelei didn’t want to take Christopher into Stars Hollow. Christopher wanted to go and become ‘one’ with the town. So, she took him along with her while she picked up knitting supplies for the knit-a-thon. It was really cool to see everyone knitting, seeing as I knit myself YAY KNITTING! Ok, onto the storyline, or lack thereof, Lorelei takes Christopher into town and everyone is very forced when they make niceties towards Christopher and then the recent marriage. Ms. Patty and Babette both mention the lack of a wedding for everyone to come and witness; which leads me to believe that there is a wedding episode soon; a big lavish affair; which will probably mark the end of The Girls.
To try and get Christopher accepted into the town, Lorelei and Sookie set up Jackson and Christopher on what they deem a ‘man date’ and they send them out to a bar. The uncomfortable silence is thick while Jackson and Christopher try to come up with conversation. Eventually, the night goes pretty well and they plan to do it again.
And we finally got to see Richard and Emily again! Lorelei and Christopher went over there for dinner; after Lorelei left a message on their answering machine that she and Christopher had gotten married. The wedding gift that she Christopher received was EXCELLENT! “Wolfgirl” fitting, don’t you think? Bwahahaha!

The next day at the knit-a-thon, Christopher pays the remaining $7,800 that the town needs to raise to complete their bridge project. This ends the knit-a-thon early and Lorelei is quite upset that no one in the town is finishing out the knit-a-thon for a sense of community at least; since her new husband, that the entire town doesn’t care for, just pledged the rest of the money.
Luke witnesses the birth of his niece, Doula (hee! That just cracks me up!), and then decides that Anna can’t take April from him and just move to New Mexico. So, finally, in a task that I’ve been waiting for him to do for a few months now, he visits Anna and tells her to stay where she is or he’ll take her to court to get April. I did a little cheer when he told her this because seriously, she’s just been using him as an insto-babysitter when she needs him. It was starting to tick me off!
We see into next week and that Christopher and Lorelei have a few fights. It’s becoming trite; Lorelei’s fighting about everything and doing everything wrong then wondering why people close to her at mad at her. I’m hoping that it picks back up and that we have those episodes where I walk away with a smile on my face and exclaim “What a great show!” So far this season those have been rare in these parts.
And, unfortunately my friends, that is all there was to this week’s Girls. I was a little disappointed and just hope that things get back on track soon. I miss the intricate storylines and how the Gilmores always went below the surface.

'Top Model' is All Wet

I really thought that one or both of the twins would make it to the final 3. There was so much talk about their "high fashion" look and beautiful pictures that I wasn't sure how they could lose. Plus, they both had great personalities to match their model looks. But here we are a week before the final three battle it out for the title of America's Next Top Model, and neither twin is still standing. Of course, Melrose is still shining on, despite her fake facade with the judges. The girl does give it everything that she has and it always seems to work in her favor. The pool photo shoot turned out gorgeous, but I was shivering along with the girls! How cold must that pool have been for CariDee to get hypothermia??!! And WTH was up with the judges using that against her during panel?? They put her in the bottom two! I was so po'ed at the unfairness of it all. Luckily, she wasn't eliminated, so I got over it. CariDee rocked the dancing challenge while Melrose cried because she didn't win it. How ridiculous was that scene?! Crying because you didn't win a challenge and you're upset that you were judged on something that's your "passion" seemed overly dramatic. And Melrose calls CariDee the drama queen!

And now it's time for PTR's Top Photo of the Week! The girls had to pose in pairs floating in a freezing cold pool. The shoot was difficult, but it resulted in some great pictures. And the winner is... CARIDEE!! Here is her winning photo:

'SVU's Routine Was Not Very Well Choreographed

Photo Curteosy of NBC.com

By Trublu
PTR Staff Writer

NBC Recap

I hold that last night’s episode of Law & Order: SVU was not as good as the rest of the season’s offerings. AS Olivia’s official return and Dani’s official goodbye, I was expecting much more than was delivered. Less angst and more lightness, please. Not normalcy, which for Elliot and Olivia has gotten boring and unbearable to watch.

To begin the episode, the victim is in the midst of a seizure, and the “were you raped?” line was totally misplaced and cheesy, though it was needed to get the SVU involved. Turns out later that no rape ever occurred, and right then and there the case should have been turned over to homicide. Dedication is one thing, but waste of an episode is another entirely. The detectives were not tied to this case in any way which should have warranted them to continue the investigation.

On top of that, Elliot is alone when he visits the crime scene. No Olivia, who is supposed to be back; no Dani, who left; no Munch and no Fin. Would it kill the writers to give Munch or Fin a crime scene that doesn’t involve Amy Solway or Fin’s “brothas”?

In the opening scene we at least find out what happened to Dani: She’s apparently been welcomed back to warrants with at least semi-open arms. Maybe her realization has helped her control her investigation techniques. And while the writers keep dropping obnoxious hints that Elliot misses Dani (in the form of him calling the victim “Dani” twice), we’ve seen the last of her, so stop teasing!

“You offering to be my partner?” – Elliot Stabler
“I’m not your type.” – Don Cragen
“Women keep leaving me.” – Elliot Stabler

Woe is Elliot. I want to feel sorry for you, I really do, but I can’t because somehow in the space of one episode you’ve gone from Stabler back to UnStabler.

“After what you did last night I’ve been assigned to be your handler.” – Olivia Benson

Ouch. Welcome back Olivia. *Lack of celebration.* What she says is partially true. But in Elliot’s defense, the guy pulled a knife on him. Anyone who has a knife pulled on him or her automatically assumes that the knife is headed toward not so safe places, namely embedded in their flesh at some point on their body. Startling the poor man without showing a badge was not necessary, but Olivia’s words were totally uncalled for. The writers are trying to create some tension, and that’s all well and good, but that is so out of character for Olivia. Everyone has their boiling point, but this isn’t Olivia’s.
Olivia seems to be upset that Elliot apparently doesn’t have his anger under control. Notice that Elliot only gets violent after Olivia is mentioned and is back with the unit. He wasn’t violent to this degree the entire time that Dani was in the picture. Inadvertently, by being as reckless as she sometimes was, Dani was Elliot’s calming force. Now that Tornado Beck is gone, UnStabler is back. And, where did Olivia come from? Last time she decided to check in, she wasn’t ready to return to the unit. Has she taken the legendary “time off”? She’s definitely more sarcastic, but not old school SVU sarcastic. Now, it’s “let me beat you into the ground” sarcastic, which does not jive well with the show.

The clear highlight of the show was the lesbian hitting on Olivia. That = Fantastic! We’re getting closer! (You all know you wanted Alex and Olivia together too.) I just ignored the federal agent hitting on her later; that was just annoying.

“Oh, so you’re recycling old partners?” – Melinda Warner
“Old?” – Olivia Benson
“Welcome back Olivia.” – Melinda Warner

“Hey Liv. I should have brought some welcome back cupcakes.” – John Munch

Can nobody leave this alone? I don’t remember Olivia’s first exit and reappearance being as grand as this one. Maybe after “Fault” (7.19) and the fake computer crimes gig thing, they’re as tired as I am of seeing Olivia leave and come back again.

“Dickie got suspended for busting someone’s lip.” – Elliot Stabler
“Aren’t you busting with fatherly pride.” – Olivia Benson

This really needs to stop. Olivia is clearly under the influence of something; at this point I would buy that a robot was controlling her mind, because in this episode, anything is possible. The sheer ridiculousness of this all makes me wonder what could possibly be in store for us down the road.

About the actual case: Never saw the chip in Naomi’s shoulder coming. I’ve never seen “The Stepford Wives”, but this seems like something that would fit under that title.

And finally, someone lays into these two! Casey Novak, Squad Squabble Solver. Olivia and Elliot have no right to be shocked; Casey is totally right. There is no way that Glenn should have been allowed into the hospital, negotiating tactic or not. Excited utterance could get their whole case thrown away. Her “this is your first case back, you rusty?” type comment directed at Olivia was a bit much, but her comment towards Elliot about knowing better hit the nail on the head for both of them. Notice that illegal stuff only happens when Elliot and Olivia get together.

I don’t know what to say about this episode. No Fin, no Huang, almost no Munch, almost no Casey. The Elliot & Olivia show, exactly what I don’t want to see. There was no rape; the killer was the jealous husband on the outside of an affair, how typical. The case managed to keep my attention for about two seconds, the personal stuff for just a bit longer. I found myself wanting to change the channel because it was that painful to watch. I miss Dani already. The case would have been a bit better if it wasn’t overshadowed by all the Elliot/ Olivia nonsense. Performances by Bob Saget, Bernadette Peters, Catherine Bell and Chris Sarandon were wasted.

Notable Quotes:

“We’re going to need a recent photo of Dani.” – Elliot Stabler
“Dani?” – Wesley Masoner

“What killed her?” – Elliot Stabler
“I don’t know.” – Melinda Warner

“You can’t figure out how she died.” - Stella Danquiss
“We know it’s a homicide.” – Elliot Stabler

“That explains why my four exes never made good on their threats. There was nothing to inherit!”- John Munch
“There’s your Warren Commission memorabilia.” – Elliot Stabler

(Referring to Attorney Stella Danquiss) “Every times she leaves the room the temperature goes up five degrees.” – Elliot Stabler

(Elliot tries to hand soda to Olivia)
“Oh, I don’t drink soda anymore.” –Olivia Benson
“Any other major changes you want to let me in on?” – Elliot Stabler
“You’re the one who traded in your suits for jeans.” – Olivia Benson

This quote is extremely important for two reasons. One, the non- eco-terrorists that Olivia infiltrated actually taught her something that she brought home with her. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see “Environmentally Friendly Olivia” more in the future. Second, Stabler’s changes while he was around Dani. His change of attire is symbolic of his more cavalier attitude and laid back approach. Basically, it’s symbolic of Dani, and I have a feeling that will stay for a while as well. Judging by the way he reacted when Cragen first told him he was going to get another chance with an old partner (he immediately thought Dani) Elliot is still very much attached to the blonde tornado that blew through his life in six episodes.

“I’d give you a kidney.” – Elliot Stabler
“Not if I gave you mine first.” – Olivia Benson

'Mars' Mystery Conclusion is Outta this World

As with past seasons of Veronica Mars, the final episodes of this mystery were awesome! Last night's 1st mystery finale was a stand out outing. The change in format from 1 overarching season-long mystery to three shorter ones didn't cause Veronica to skip a beat. The only misstep with the new formula was the quick conclusion, but I think it worked better than last season, which seemed to lose its focus halfway through. It wasn't that last night's conclusion to the Hearst rapist story was implausible, but rather, it felt like it didn't have the time to fully develop (but that might be because I'm used to the longer format). Veronica cracked this case because she was able to figure out the next victim, and then beat the rapist to his victim's room. While she lay in wait, taser firmly planted in hand, she listened as Mercer explained why he raped all of those women. Blame a lethal mix of hormones and severe impatience and you get the sicko that is Mercer. The episode's biggest shocker, though, was learning that Mercer didn't act alone. He had help from Wallace's RA, who had keys to the raped girls' rooms. In true Veronica fashion, the final half of the episode was nail-bitingly intense as Veronica fought for her life. Luckily, she got a little help from her friends. In an empowering moment, Parker heard Veronica's rape whistle and caused enough of a ruckus that both Mercer and the RA took off. Parker entered the room and found a drugged Veronica unconscious on the floor.

The other big story of the night centered around Veronica and Logan's relationship. Last week, we watched (along with Logan) as Veronica ignored Logan's phone call. Logan, fearing the writing on the wall, struck first and broke up with Veronica before either of them had a chance to endure more hurt. I've said all along that I'd like these two to ultimately end up together, but the time is not now. I used to blame Logan, but I'm blaming this one on Veronica. She was so concerned that Logan was trying to hold her back from being herself that she turned cold toward him. I'm not one to allow another to smother my flame either, but I think in the Hearst rapist case, Logan was only trying to protect her. It looks like Logan's "epic relationship" with Veronica just got a little more epic. And speaking of Logan, didn't he alibi Mercer with that trip to Mexico? Was the rape that occurred during that trip a result of one of Lilith House's fake rapes? That was the only confusing point from last night's conclusion. It looks like we have an awesome new mystery to kick off the New Year -- who killed Dean O'Dell?? Veronica fans, start your theorizing!

All of the screencaps in this edition are courtesy of vm-caps.com.

As some of you have probably heard by now, The CW ordered 7 more episodes of Veronica Mars, which brings the season total to 20 instead of the usual 22. The biggest problem with this (other than the fact that we're getting short changed 2 episodes and it doesn't bode well for another season), it leaves only 4 episodes for the final mystery of the season. Total bummer, no matter how grateful I am just to have the show around this season. Those creative folks over at Look to the Skies have a new VM project going on. They're sending holiday cards to CW President Dawn Ostroff filled with holiday cheer. And you can send one too. You never know, the extra support for VM can't hurt. Send your cards to:

'Heroes' Shows us its Sylar

Heroes went a little Lost on us last night with flashbacks to the various characters' pasts. It was fun to watch some of them in the very early onset of their abilities. But the night's biggest revelation was the insight into the mysterious Sylar. The man behind the heinous murders is the perfect non-descript comic book villain. As soon as we met him in the watch shop, I knew that he was Sylar because we had seen flashes of Sylar's watch in past episodes. We learned that he's killing the heroes to develop his own abilities because he was upset to learn that he didn't have one of his own. I loved that Claire's father (a.k.a. HRG -- Horned Rim Glasses) turned out to be good (so far). He went to New York to learn more about Sharesh's studies because he wanted to know how much Sharesh knew about Claire. He sent Eden there to get Claire's name off the list. He was trying to protect Claire all along. I love how this show manages to manipulate our feelings toward its characters. One minute I'm wondering if HRG could be any more evil and the next I'm relieved to find out that he's just being a good dad.

Last night's episode was HUGE. Not only did we learn a lot about Sylar, but we also found out where Hiro has been for the last 6 months. Turns out, he couldn't have saved Charlie because she was dying from a blood clot anyway. And then there was the revelation that Niki's other personality, Jessica, is really her dead sister! In a sad twist, the girls' father abused and murdered Jessica years ago. We also discovered how Nathan's wife landed in the wheelchair, HRG knew about Claire's power before she did, Matt's dyslexic, and Eden appears to be a hero as well. So much goodness packed into a single hour. Lost should be so revealing!

If you missed tonight's episode, you can watch it for free at nbc.com beginning tomorrow. All of the photos in this edition are courtesy of nbc.com.

'Tis The Season to be Desperate

by Turtlemama
PTR Staff Writer

Last night’s ‘Housewives’ episode was intriguing, at the least, wasn’t it? Wisteria Lane had a huge holiday block party, where the ‘predator’, or new neighbor depending on your point-of-view, showed up as Santa with toys for all the kids. Only he wasn’t met with merriment, he was met with shame and shunning. Lynnette’s plan from last week seemed to be working well, she had shunned the predator of the neighborhood and everyone was aware of who and what he was…problem solved, or so she thought.

Next Gabby met a love interest! One of her pagent student’s father (well that’s confusing…) although the student had other plans for her father, so Gabby had to put her thinking tiara on and come up with a way to thwart the little girl’s plans. So, instead of the little girl’s father marrying her best friend’s mother, Gabby pitted the girls against one another, hopefully getting her way. I have a feeling that this storyline will turn out like the Edie/Carl/Susan one...Carlos will see Gabby with Bill and want her back, like Susan did when she saw Carl with Edie.

On to Bree, desperate, manipulative Bree…Orson moved out and his mother stayed behind, trying to convince Bree to divorce Orson, to no avail. While Orson was moved out and Bree was contemplating her next move she discovers that Mike was arrested for Monique murder. Thinking that the recent arrest clears her husband of any wrong doing, Bree decides to confront Orson and get the whole story. BUT, Susan steals the keys to Orson office, after she and Bree had a fight about Mike being innocent and Orson being guilty. Susan is hiding in Orson’s records closet when Bree comes in and begins her chat with Orson. Meanwhile, Susan begins digging into Orson’s personal files and finds out that Orson was in a mental institution for over a year. This gives Susan enough evidence, in her own mind, to clear Mike and prove that Orson is capable of murder. Orson, on the other hand tells Bree the truth about his mother and the Monique, Alma situation. Bree believes her husband and they return home to clear out Mama Hodge.

Lynnette is off to a meeting with some of the residents of Wisteria Lane when she happens upon the disabled sister of the new neighbor. The sister explains what she and her brother have had to wrought because of Lynnette’s gossping. Lynnette tries to blow the sister off, but then realizes that maybe the sister is right; what if ‘Protector Man’ isn’t really ‘Pedophile Man’? Lynnette then makes her way to the meeting and walks in on what looks like a protest in the making. Picket signs read “Get Our Pedophile!” and “No Child Molesters in our Neighborhood!” Lynnette then realizes that her gossiping has created a monster and she tries to explain that maybe they’ve taken this a little too far. No one hears her cries and she leaves. Finally a few hours later there is a mob on the street in front of the new neighbor’s house and they are telling him to leave. As Lynnette is watching, Tom comes out and proves that maybe he was right, maybe Lynnette should have left well enough alone. Just as he’s done comparing Lynnette’s gossiping to a Mary Shelley novel, an ambulance pulls up onto Wisteria Lane with sirens blaring. Invalid sister is wheeled onto the ambulance and new neighbor dude is trying to lock up the house to go with his sister when a picketer throws a rock at his head. Lynnette tries, in vain, to clear the crowd and then catches neighbor dude and apologizes.

Susan was supposed to be hosting a home-cooked dinner for Ian’s parents when she returns home 40 minutes late to find Ian alone. Ian’s parents were snowed in at O’Hare and wouldn’t be coming to dinner. Susan explains that she out trying to clear Mike’s name. Ian asks why Edie wasn’t doing the legwork for Mike when Susan drops the bomb that Edie dumped Mike (who else asked WTF when Edie dumped Mike AT THE JAILHOUSE!?) Ian then becomes jealous (duh!) and then promises Susan that he’ll pay for the best attorney in town for Mike; providing Susan never sees Mike again. Susan agrees; shows Ian her ‘proof’ and they move on.

Meanwhile back at Casa Hodge; Mama Hodge makes a phone call to a mystery caller and declares that unfortunately Bree is taking Orson back. The two parties agree to meet at the corner in a few minutes.

Lynnette sees neighbor dude packing up his car and walks over to giver her condolences to him for the loss of his sister. The creepy exchange makes you wonder; was he really a predator or did he say those things just to mess with Lynnette? Either way, he’s moving out and this storyline was prematurely ended and honestly, I don’t think many people care whether he was a predator or not.

As the show comes to a close we see Mama Hodge walking towards the corner to meet with her mystery caller. The window goes down on a dark sedan and who do we see; none other than Mrs. Alma Hodge, alive and well and in the flesh.

I’m a little disappointed that they cut the pedophile storyline short, but then again I didn’t think they’d actually have a storyline where one of the child characters were harmed. But I do think they went a little fast with this particular plotline.

The Hodges’ story is quite interesting and my prediction is that Alma and Mama Hodge will kill Bree, trying to get Orson thrown in jail. I believe that Mama Hodge and Alma were the killers of Monique also, only they used Mike’s wrench and tried to implicate Orson in the crime. It’s a good way to get Mike out of jail; have Mama H. and Alma try to kill Bree, Bree thwarts their plan and uncovers the truth; Mike is out of jail; Orson is under a cloud of suspicion no more and we’re on to the next crazy plotline. However any of this turns out will be interesting, it is Wisteria Lane after all!

'Race' Has its Own Chariots of Fire

I know what you're thinking: So close!! Yes as in seasons past, the most annoying team finally came in last only to learn that it was a non-elimination round. But unlike all those other seasons, I'm not angry that the blondes were spared. As I've mentioned before, I'm having a hard time hating them. Sure, they're ruthless, but they run the race better than any other team. They had a hideously bad leg last night, but it was a definite exception to the rule for them. I just feel that they deserve to be in the final three. Now, this doesn't mean that I wasn't delighting in their healthy helping of karma. Yielding Bama was completely useless, as they were standing right behind them when they did it. That Yield had to be 15-20 minutes tops, so they were easily able to catch up and land in second for the leg. The blondes were rotten to do that, so I was doing the happy dance when they had to watch Bama complete the Detour before they could begin. Karma isn't just for Earl, girls! Other amusing things from last night:

-What did the blondes hope to gain by arriving in Casablanca so early?? Did they miss the part where the travel agent explained that there is only 1 flight to their destination from there?? Why would you cut it so close with your connecting flight just to get to an airport early and extend your layover? As we all saw this move proved to be even dumber than we first thought because the girls missed their connecting flight in Milan, and wound up barely making the flight from Casablanca.

-Why do Rob and Kim have all of the car trouble? Their cars always break down, get flat tires and take them to the wrong destinations (Oops, sorry. That's just the two navigationally-challenged people behind the wheel). And I'm convinced that Rob was making the whole changing the tire task seem a lot harder than it was, even with the impossible to find jack. It was a Toyota and it wasn't that old. I'm thinking all of the tire changing troubles were the result of user error.

-We got the Phil Point!! When the first teams were arriving at the Pit Stop, he stood there with his sidekick of the week, and pointed in the direction of the incoming team! Oh, how I had been missing the Phil Point. So glad it's back.

In the end, the models arrived in first (yes, again!), Bama got revenge with a second place finish, the blondes got a reprieve, and karma had the best day of its life. I can't wait to see what happens next week as the four teams race to make the final three and the blondes fight being marked for elimination. Good times!

'Cold Case' Spins an Ugly Tale

Since last week was a holiday week and I was crazy busy and there isn't a new Cold Case tonight, I thought I would go ahead and revisit last week's episode. This episode was so hot/cold for me that I felt it would be worth it to discuss it a week late. It had a lot of great moments that saved it from slipping into the black hole of mediocrity. Pretty much every scene involving Vera had me laughing. I'm not sure why they showed us that random altercation between him and the young teen, but I'm thinking it may be important down the road. I also loved the scene with Lilly, Jeffries and the drag queen just because it's fun to watch Jeffries squirm a bit. It's also interesting to watch Lilly with these types of characters. She doesn't pass any judgment (one of the things I love about her), but she's quick to jump to conclusions about others when they're a little too similar to her mother. There was a great scene between Lil, Kat and Stillman when he told them that he was going to send the boys to the wedding chapel together. And then there was the more content Lilly at the end of the episode that gave me hope that she might have learned a little something from this case. The desperate "I don't want to be alone" Lilly was bumming me out when Joseph dumped her a few weeks back. It was so sad, so seeing a more joyful side to her at the end was a nice change of pace.

Unfortunately, the great moments were surrounded by a bad case. The actual trajectory of the story was good. It took plenty of turns and kept me guessing, but the subject matter was problematic. Are all "ugly" girls so desperate that they'll do absolutely anything to keep a hot guy around?? And are "ugly" girls the only ones who are unlucky in love?? Of course, the answer to both questions is no, but this episode led you to believe it was yes. Lilly is a nice contrast to the second question. She's beautiful, successful and completely alone, and yet, she has more issues than Time magazine and the absolute worst luck with men. I got the parallel, but I still felt that the subject matter was a mess. Instead of coming across as sympathetic (as I'm sure the show intended), it came across as a parody or mockery. It was so over-the-top that it seemed like the episode was making fun of girls like Martha. Perhaps, setting the story in the cheestastic 80s is to blame. Whatever the reason, the story seemed cruel. This one was a step backwards for Cold Case this season. Thankfully, the other moments were strong enough to keep me from getting too bogged down by the weakly executed subject matter.

Random thought of the week: Remember when Meg Ryan used to be cute? Back before she botoxed the emotion out of her face and ruined her best feature -- her lips. We're talking movies like Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally and so on. Anyway, I've always thought that Kathryn Morris resembled this pre-botox cute version of Meg. They both have that sort of cute quality, the same eyes, and the curled lips (for Meg, pre-botox or whatever the hell happened to hers). Some people think I'm crazy, but there are moments when they look a lot alike. Last week's ending scene happens to be one of them. Check this out:

She looks like her, right? Leave me a comment and let me know if you agree or if you think that I'm totally crazy!

Cages Are Left Wide Open In SVU's Eighth Showing

Photo Curteousy of NBC.com

By Trublu
PTR Staff Writer

“Man tried to take a shortcut to Brooklyn, but the river got in the way.”- John Munch

The episode starts off with a girl sitting in the back of a van singing what sounds like a psalm. The boy sitting next to her is silent. When she asks the man if she can stop singing, he tells her to keep going, but the girl complains that her throat is sore, implying that she’s been singing for a while. All of the discussion over the singing causes the driver to take his eyes of the road, and the van nearly hits a truck, then plunges into the river.

We can see now that the kids are handcuffed to the seats. Bring in the SVU for this one. The ironic thing about the team’s arrival on the scene is that neither Munch nor Elliot can get the girl to talk, but when they turn around, Dani Beck swoops in and saves the day. One second she’s silent, next Dani has the girl chatting up a storm. Unfortunately, this is the first sign that something is seriously wrong. Dani couldn’t handle children at all before, but now she can. Elliot looks as shocked as the rest of the audience probably is.

“Can I live with you?” – Eden

The SVU certainly has it rough when it comes to this area. Olivia had this happen outright to her in season two’s “Abuse” (2.11). The trouble that the SVU has is that they must be connected to the victims. They couldn’t possibly do their jobs without being connected. But they cannot become so connected as to cloud their vision.

“See a future for her here at SVU?”- Don Cragen
“Sure.”- Elliot Stabler
“You don’t want your old partner back?” – Don Cragen
“Since when is that up to me?” – Elliot Stabler

In the most important exchange of the episode, Elliot establishes for us that Dani could easily become a more permanent fixture, if the unit needed it to be so. Elliot/Olivia shippers were most likely squirming at this confession, because not only was he accepting Dani, he was also accepting defeat in the situation between Olivia and himself. He has resigned himself to knowing that he cannot contact Olivia while she is undercover, and he knows he needs to move on and do his job. It seems UnStabler is not coming out to play, at least in this episode.

“It’s called evidence moron. Here’s a rug to keep you warm.” –Fin Tutuola

Finally, a good line for Fin! The rug, of course, referring to the toupee that the perp left behind in the car.

As per usual, since the detectives can’t get through to the kids, they bring in the esteemed Dr. Huang, who it seems is an avid drawer. All psychiatrists like drawing. Usually it doesn’t backfire on them this much, though, as Mark lunges at Huang and takes the pen he was using and stabs Elliot with it. Huang ends up holding Mark as Dani naturally goes for Elliot and rips the pen out of his chest, while yelling in French at Mark. While it was lovely to hear Dani speak French again, I wish it was under calmer circumstances, when perhaps we would be allowed to focus on the French and not the pen protruding from Elliot’s chest.

Cragen insists that Dani go with Munch and Fin to check out the adoption agency’s house while Elliot goes to the ER, but mysteriously she has not shown up. Imagine that. Three guesses as to where she is, and the first two don’t count.

Aha! She is at the hospital with Elliot. I bet you couldn’t figure that out. Are they going to have the same problem that Elliot and Olivia had in “Fault” (7.19)? They put each other over the job, which they insisted later could never happen again. Now it’s happening with Dani and Elliot, so we can’t imagine that they will let it go.

But, we must stop for a second to “oooh and awwww” at Elliot holding Dani’s hand. A simple gesture of affection that I don’t think we’ve seen before from Elliot, especially with Olivia. In true SVU fashion, the moment is broken when Kathy walks in with Kathleen. In the words of Richie Velch (The Class) “Aaaaaaaawkward!” Dani sticks around long enough to meet the sort-of misses and Elliot’s daughter, but then hightails it out of the potential war zone.

The ironic part about the interruption is that Dani was about to tell Elliot that she couldn’t do it anymore, the “it” being up for interpretation at this point. It could have been whatever relationship they had, the job, or both.

How any parent could perform a rebirthing ceremony on their child is beyond my grasp, but the tape at least provides the detectives with the evidence to continue the investigation. Cragen, not happy at all that Dani skipped out on the raid and seemingly oblivious to her connection with Elliot, insists that she go home and come back fresh the next day. Dani, of course, cannot physically do this, and goes to talk with the ACS rep anyway. While she can’t follow simple directions, at least she has connections to get stuff done! Her friend at the phone company leads them successfully to the fourth passenger in the van who is not hard for the detectives to break, and she sheds life on the life of Eden.

At this point, we find out where the name of the episode “Cage”, comes from, and we feel Dani Beck’s pain as she opens the barn door to find a little boy locked in a cage. When she asks him how long he has been in there, he answers “two days”, to Dani’s dismay.
To Casey’s dismay (Hey! Casey is making an appearance!) the judge (Terhune… maybe she walked in on his poker game again?) threw out the rebirthing ritual tape.

“The defense can say that in the missing sections a spaceship landed and aliens squashed the girl with a giant pumpkin.” – Casey Novak

Ehm… ok. I don’t think any judge would accept that argument, no matter how much tampering the detectives could have done with the tape.

Finally, a Casey courtroom scene! How long has it been since we’ve had one of them? That tape of human interaction was mighty interesting to look at! The jury seemed to think so too, as they looked interested when Casey looked over to see how much damage the defense was doing to her case.

I want to know how in the world Dani got permission to take Eden home with her! That’s not how we remain objective… I’m a Dani fan, and I don’t think as a judge I would have authorized that sort of arrangement. And as all actions have consequences, Dani’s decision to take Eden home with her results in a cute bedtime photo-op, but then a burning living room. In a clear display of the Reactive Attachment Disorder that Huang was describing earlier, Eden tries to burn down Dani’s house so that she can die, with Dani by her side.

All this culminates in a grand finale: Dani admits that she can’t handle it. This time, by “it”, she definitely means the job. She admits that she’s a fixer, she likes to fix situations and make them better. In the SVU world though, there isn’t always fixing to be done, more like consoling and comforting. Dani can’t always get clear cut justice for the victims, and she can’t go about a case the way she is used to either. This, along with the live victims (which almost got Casey in “Serendipity” (5.05)) caused Dani to metaphorically hand in her badge. Along with her badge, she is probably also forfeiting any relationship that she had or might have had with Elliot. Dani can’t stay for the victims, and she can’t stay for Elliot either. So ends the saga of Dani Beck.

Or does it? This is going to affect Elliot majorly over the next few weeks. And, Elliot is alone…again. While we’ve most likely seen the last of Dani Beck, we haven’t heard the last about her!

Prevalent in this episode was a strange combination of Christian religious symbols. The name Eden, as in garden of; Joe, the boy at the foster home; the psalm Eden was reciting at the beginning. The meaning of this compilation, if there was any, was not made clear in the episode, but could be connected with the “rebirthing” therapy, as the term “reborn” is often used in Christian worship.

Preview: Mariska returns full time in the November 28th episode, and it’s going to be good. We’re going to have an all star cast for this one, featuring Bernadette Peters, Catherine Bell, Bob Saget and Chris Sarandon. In a he said, she said…he said, and she said again, Olivia’s going to get right back to work. I’m staying tuned… pass the remote!

'Top Model' Gets Lost in Translation

Despite her obvious beauty, Jaeda had been holding on by a thread. She was never happy about her shorter hair, her photos were mediocre at best, and she gave up much too easily. Needless to say, she was the latest eliminated girl on America's Next Top Model last night. Actually, I'm surprised that she made it this far! I always feel bad for the girl who goes home right after they travel to the "exotic location." She's jet-lagged, adjusting to a new culture, excited about the new destination and then bam! She's on a plane back to the states! I felt especially bad for Jaeda because she had the male model from hell. He made it clear that he didn't like "black girls," and he wouldn't help her with her Spanish. Jaeda let it get in her head, and then she was unable to complete the commercial for Secret deodorant. Of course as a professional, Jaeda would have to overcome such obstacles and still turn out an excellent commercial. Elsewhere, I was shocked at how poorly CariDee performed in her commercial! I think the language threw her off, but like Jaeda, she would have to overcome it. She did rock the silent movie challenge, though!

It's time for PTR's Top Photo of the Week! Since the girls didn't have a photo shoot last night, we can't pick a photo. They did, however, have a commercial shoot, and the winner of that shoot was..... MELROSE!! Did she rock that commercial or what?? She interacted with all of the "extras" and she looked completely natural. As much as I dislike her for her conniving ways, she is a very fierce competitor and a force to be reckon with in this competition.

SVU Is Showing It’s Underbelly In This Hit Or Miss Episode

Photo curteosy of NBC.com

By: Trublu
PTR Staff Writer

NBC Episode Recap

The episode begins by plunging straight into the storyline: Could be gangs, could be a secret club, could be anything that a tattoo could represent. Three girls dead with the same paw print tattoo on their back would make anyone suspicious, and the SVU is no exception. Dani in particular. I could tell by her face in the opening sequence that she would be especially emotionally invested in this case, whatever it was to involve. The young age of most of the victims still hits her hard every time she dares to look.

A bit later on, we can see that Dani is pretty much ready to flip on the ASC worker and Chantal’s mother. She, like any other SVU detective, can’t stand to know that a little girl was being neglected by her own mother and another who was supposed to protect her. Instead, she was cast out onto the street by both an uncaring mother and a busy social worker. Dani, fortunately, doesn’t realize that she hasn’t seen the worst. Stabler here is a surprising source of… stablility! Of all things… he shows Dani what a good balance is between action and passiveness. Elliot definitely has a right to be angry, and is sure agitated at the mother’s behavior, but has learned to not waste his punches. Dani will do well to learn this from him.

We can also tell that Dani is disgusted with Belinda’s “choice” of “profession”, but we can also see that she realizes where Belinda is coming from, and why she sells her body for Victor. Dani’s gaining a small, but still present, soft spot for the victims. When Dani (thinks she) knows the age of the girl in Blake’s room, she can’t even finish marandizing him.

Dani is sort of getting comfortable with her surroundings… a sure sign that this can’t possibly last, and a mark of the strict six episode arc. Dani’s force is still driving, but no longer harsh and overbearing. She’s beginning to understand how to interact with the victims instead of treating them like perps.

“I’m his partner, Dani Beck.” – Dani Beck

This could possibly be the most important five word sentence in the whole series to date. Elliot and Olivia, who have always been a constant, are a constant no more. The dynamics are changing a bit, and Elliot/Olivia fans aren’t the only ones who aren’t liking them. Olivia is completely uncomfortable with the idea of another woman as Elliot’s partner, even though there really is no romantic connection between Elliot and Olivia. Olivia's "I'm not ready to come back" was complete cockamamie. She couldn't stop being an SVU detective while she was undercover. She's so ready to be back, and Cragen saw right through that fluff. Olivia’s disappearing act after that confrontation, though, is a sign that it’s going to be rough, especially if Dani and Elliot continue their relationship without Dani technically being in the show.

An even more exciting dynamic change: with a simple request, Dani got Elliot and Casey to go out for a drink. Elliot, who has definitely had his patience tried by this woman, and Casey, who saw Dani as nothing more than a liability. Dani uttered one sentence, and they’re chatting it up like old friends. Last time we truly saw this was the night Alex “died”. And it’s been a long time since “Loss” (5.04)

As much as I wanted to see Dani Beck end up with Casey *sigh of disappointment* I didn’t totally hate the Elliot/Dani kiss, and I could not possibly write a decent review without mentioning it. In a word, it was simply this:

Stunning.

I say stunning for several reasons. One, Dani and Elliot seem like they might actually fit together! I’m a hardcore Elliot/Kathy shipper, but once Dani leaves, Elliot/Dani wouldn’t be so horrible. Second, afterwards wasn’t all awkward like not-meant-to-be first kisses sometimes are. Every viewer had to know the phones would go off, yes. But, weren’t you all expecting them to be avoid-y after? They seem to work better now that they don’t have to hold it in anymore. And third… it just looked plain smokin’!

And the fourth and final Dani point for the night: the shooting. Dani’s just getting settled, so in SVU fashion, something has got to disrupt that. It was a good shoot, and Dani knows it was a good shoot. The car was headed right toward her, and Victor would have run her right over had she not taken action. But even a good shoot is hard to get over, and it isn’t something that is dealt with easily. This is going to throw a definite cog in Elliot and Dani’s relationship and in Dani’s ability to adjust to her work.

By now you’ve probably noticed that I have barely touched on the case. This week’s episode wasn’t overly exciting episode wise, is why. I couldn’t find anything substantial to write about. I could comment on the insaneness of child prostitution or the sorrow I felt for the victim, because those things are both thoughts I had. But, this episode was really not for the case, it was pure character development, which I believe will be very important in the next few weeks transitioning from Dani Beck mode back to Olivia Benson mode. And, don’t forget, Olivia’s going to be in the hot seat this season!

Comments:

Tattoos: Major factor in the case, but also the fact that Dani mentions her tattoo… and that it must be placed in a very discrete location… I have a feeling Elliot will get to see it anyway!

I think the inside of a sofa bed is definitely the best hiding place I’ve ever seen! Especially on SVU.

Casey and Marcus! *Laughs self to floor* That’s the second cameo that Marcus has made on the show (the first being as Casey’s schizophrenic ex-fiancee) and this time he actually got to walk by! And, Casey actually got up to go talk with him.

Another thing I’ve noticed: Sister Peg gets attacked an awful lot. She must have a lot of willpower to keep going after all she’s been through!

We all now know how inefficient bail guys really are… photo ID’s anyone?! They let a suspect in a murder trial and a promoter of child prostitution back out on the street and kept the kid that tried to get a free ride on the subway because he was late for work. Nice job, team!

Quotes:

“It could be something more vanilla… a lot of girls like Snoopy!”- John Munch on the significance of the paw tattoos.

“Everyone of these cases will break your heart.”- Elliot Stabler

“Guess the only color he cares about is green.” – John Munch on Fin being denied by a “brother”.

Preview:

Fasten your seatbelts, ladies and gentlemen, because it’s going to be one bumpy ride! Elle Fanning guest stars, and if she has the Fanning talent, then its going to be some good acting. Dani Beck’s going to face some demons (literally) and when they’re done with us we’re going to wonder whether we’re in heaven or hell. Stay tuned folks, and pass the remote!

The Girls Take on Some Twisty Turns!

By Turtlemama
PTR Staff Writer

WOW! Last night’s Gilmore Girls was full of twists and turns, wasn’t it? We started out learning that Lane is having twins, to which Zach thought that meant Siamese Twins (HA! Isn’t he cute!?). Lane and Zach also finally told Mrs. Kim that Lane was pregnant, to which Mrs. Kim said that the young couple should move in with her…To which Zach replied “cool.” All of this led Lane and Zach into a tiff over his insinuation that they would move in with Lane’s mother, an idea that Lane did not like one bit. Lane and Zach finally told her mother that they were going to stay at their own home and raise their children in their home by themselves. That’s when Mrs. Kim just went ahead and moved in with Lane and Zach, sending Brian to live with Mrs. Kim’s family! HA! That was excellent!

Now, on to the major twists and turns of this episode:
While Christopher and Lorelei were in Paris, Rory was at school losing her position as Editor to the Yale Daily News and missing Logan at the same time. Rory finally went out with her ‘wild’ new friends and had a breakdown after having the realization that everything in her life was changing (excellent story point BTW, this should keep us interested for another season, at least). I’m curious what will happen with Rory and Logan, I bet she gets scared and breaks up with him thinking that he’ll do it first.

Now, here’s where I get persnickety about my ‘Girls’…..
Am I mistaken, or did Lorelei and Christopher say that they were going to Paris to stay with Gigi the whole month or week or whatever it was? Did they just drop her off? How weird is all of that? They went for a day then came right back home? The story has a huge hole in it from the start to finish of the episode when it comes to how long they were gone. Bad writing in my book, but I digress…
My next issue is that Chris asked Lorelei to marry him, who didn’t see THAT one coming. Then Lorelei agrees they come home married (after an indeterminate time in Paris). Lorelei has never been pro-marriage; she likes to idea but has never been able to really go through with it. All of the sudden she can do it and do it on a whim like that without her daughter, the one person closest to her? Heck yeah this is going to make Rory upset, and since when did Lorelei do anything without consulting Rory first? We know that people can call Rory’s cell phone from an international location, so why didn’t Lorelei just call her? It just all seems so out there from the characters’ personalities that we’ve grown to know and love.

Next week’s episode does look very interesting and I can’t wait to see it, although the scene with Luke and Christopher looking like they were about to throw down is a bit ridiculous, I mean Lorelei and Christopher are married, end of story…Real adults don’t just hop into fist fights after getting married, it’s just not done. But maybe that’s why we love our Girls so much, they do what we only dream and imagine!

The Hearst Rapist Targets 'Veronica'

I'm quite sure that nobody does heart-pounding moments like Veronica Mars. The final 5 minutes of last night's episode were so intense, moving, frightening and they had me fearing for Veronica. I figured that they wouldn't make her the next victim of the Hearst rapist, but just the fact that she came this close makes it upsetting enough. And how wonderful was Logan??!! Not only did he save her from being the next victim, but he also stayed with her (along with Keith) while she recovered from being drugged. The episode's closing lines from Veronica's narration seemed to sum everything up nicely. It isn't about how much someone loves you, but how much they continue to, even when you aren't loving them like you should. Logan really redeemed himself from that Tijuana incident with these closing scenes. Speaking of his secret, I'm just happy that he didn't do anything to hurt Veronica. I'm not surprised that he ran after Mercer accidentally set the motel on fire. Logan has never been mature enough to stand up and own up to his mistakes. He has never had to because his last name and tremendous wealth tend to get him out of things. Of course, Mercer is the guilty party, but Logan didn't do the right thing either. I don't know what the future holds for Logan and Veronica, but this latest test will either bring them closer together or break them apart. The real question is, did the Hearst rapist (or someone trying to scare her) target Veronica because of her involvement with the case or was she just a random victim?

Elsewhere things fizzled between Keith and Harmony after Veronica expressed her disappointment in her father. I can't blame Veronica, and I'm just happy that Keith realized what he was doing to her. Effectively, he chose Veronica over Harmony and in doing so, got back on track for that Father of the Year Award he so deserves. Meanwhile, Veronica (who was a little jaded from her recent experiences with her father and her boyfriend) took on a case looking for a missing boyfriend. She jumped to all sorts of conclusions, but learned in the end, that this boyfriend had done nothing wrong (other than drink a little too much at River Stix). I loved the continuity at River Stix with the Fitzpatricks scaring Veronica again. Good thing Vinnie was there to chase them off. This season is beginning to heat up fast, and I can't wait to see where it takes us. If we have anything in store like last night's final 5 minutes, then we better hold on tight because it's going to be a wild ride!
