Livin' On the Edge

FUNNY: Shawn on a bike and Gus in the sidecar next to him.

FUNNIER: Shawn taking the time to adjust his helmut and check his mirrors to see how he looks while the suspect is riding away.

PRICELESS: Shawn taking off and Gus getting left behind in an unconnected sidecar.

This week's episode was saved by all of the humorous scenes and lines like that one at the bike show. The story was just so-so, but Shawn, Gus and their usual bag of tricks kept me entertained. I thought I had this one all figured out long before TV's funniest crime fighting duo. And I did, it's just that my idea of what was going on and the truth of what was going on didn't exactly match up. This is why I'm not the psychic detective. For instance, I thought the son was sabotaging his father. Therefore, I didn't see the whole "he's the rival daredevil!" twist coming. And I was equally shocked to learn that Dutch "The Clutch" was dying from Pancreatic Cancer. As soon as that last tidbit was disclosed, I figured we had a self-sabotager on our hands. It had to be a sobering diagnosis for a man who had faced so many life-threatening stunts and lived to tell the tales.

In order to get to the bottom of all of this, Shawn and Gus went undercover as stunt testers. This led to some hilarious scenes with Gus screaming like a little girl and Shawn pretending to be a big and bad daredevil. Meanwhile, Jules thought that her boss wanted her to find a date for Lassiter. She tried her best, but it was slim pickings until Lassie seemed to find his own woman. Unfortunately, her job got in the way since she's a bit pricey and highly illegal. Leave it to Lassie to make a love connection with a prostitute! If only Shawn had been there to see it.

Psych airs Friday nights on USA Network. Catch up on this episode and others at hulu.com.
