FRIDAY FUN: 'Mars' 'Blows out the Bank on the Season Finale!'

This is like Veronica day, isn't it? I swear when I started this edition of Friday Fun this morning, I had no idea that I'd have the Special Edition news from earlier today. Anyway, it seems like it was just September. Veronica Mars had us pondering who was at the door? And what big mystery would encompass the season? Over the last 8 months, we have gotten the answers to these questions and a lot more. We lost Meg, Duncan ran off to Mexico with his baby, Kendall Casablancas entered our world and shook it up a bit, Veronica chose Duncan, Veronica left her dad's PI business, Veronica returned to her dad's PI business, Mac and Beaver dated, Aaron Echolls got away with murder, Logan almost got convicted of murder, Weevil sent Thumper to his death, Wallace met Jackie, Veronica got an STD, Clemmons became principal, Trina found out that her real mother is a Neptune High lunch lady and a bus carrying six students, a teacher and the driver suffered a small explosion that sent it off a cliff, killing everyone onboard. It has been an incredible ride this season, but I think the biggest ride is yet to come. The quote that serves as this edition's title comes from what executive producer Rob Thomas told bloggers during a teleconference in March. Check out this preview for Tuesday's season finale to see for yourself:

Add to that what we've heard from stars Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring, and Tuesday can't come soon enough. Kristen told TVGuide.com that she got a huge bruise shooting the finale. "I think that what is done in the final episode hasn't been done on television before. Not in the way of stunts or anything, but the theory behind it, if you really think about it, hasn't been done. I think that's because [series creator] Rob Thomas challenges himself. They tried really hard to make it as good as Season 1, and I really think it is," she told the magazine's online site. She also promises that (SPOILER ALERT) "there will be some deaths"(END SPOILER ALERT). Jason told TVGuide.com that it "contains the most exciting half an hour in the history of the show." Other than those quotes, not much is known about this pivital episode, which is good because it should lead to lots of surprises! One thing is for sure, Veronica will graduate from high school Tuesday night. As promised here are more photos from Tuesday's finale courtesy of Warner Bros./UPN:

It's a fitting milestone to end the season. Like graduation, the finale is bittersweet: Sweet because everything is finally going to be revealed in a very intense hour of television and bitter because it's the end of a brilliant season and the beginning of a long summer without our favorite teen detective. And then there's the anxiety about whether the show will make the line-up at the new CW network. Things are looking more promising, but you can never be too sure. Barring any early announcements, we won't know the show's fate until over a week after the finale airs.

If you need a refresher on the season thus far, click on over to MarsInvestigations.net's summary page. If you would like to review what we know about the bus crash thus far, MarsInvestigations.net has a great page for that as well. You can get a Veronica fix over at Neptune Navigator Online. Named for the school's newspaper, the site contains well written articles keeping in the show's tradition. To help Veronica get a spot on the CW's schedule, join in on the $4,000 Shower Campaign or read up on the other fan-waged campaigns. And if you live in the Los Angeles or Burbank areas, be sure to watch the skies on Tuesday morning and afternoon. The Look to the Skies campaign will be sending an airplane from UPN's current LA headquarters to its new CW headquarters in Burbank with the following banner: "RENEW VERONICA MARS! CW 2006!" Remember to catch the season finale of Veronica Mars this Tuesday, May 9th at 9 p.m. on UPN!

It honestly beats me how the VM writers can be SO creative. Of course, they've got a lot material to work on (virtually anything). But still... how do they not run out of ideas? My hat's off to them!
