Everybody Loves Robin

There's something about How I Met Your Mother's Robin Scherbatsky.  There has to be, right?  This week, she had three men vying for her affection and two of them were willing to beg, borrow and steal just to win her back.  Barney suddenly decided that he had to have Robin back.  Ted got on board while trying to convince Barney that he didn't really want her back.  And then there was Don.  Since he's her current boyfriend, he had the advantage.  In fact, the only decision Robin had to make regarding Don was whether or not she wanted to move in with him.  It felt a little fast (to Robin as well), but she decided to consider it anyway.  When she finally made her decision regarding all three of them, it seemed that Ted and Barney's actions had an effect -- just not the one they were hoping for.

Since we know these characters and how they interact, I never thought it was strange that Robin hangs out with two of her exes.  When Don discovered that she had dated both Barney and Ted, I started to see where that might be a little weird and might make a new boyfriend a bit uneasy.  Still, if you're asking someone to move in with you, then you need to know them well enough to trust them around two of their exes.  Thankfully, Don realized this as well and came back and apologized the next day.  Then, his concerns became legit because Barney decided that he had to have Robin back.  Ted showed him "the letter," but it did nothing to quell his longing for her.  The letter to his future self was designed to remind him of why he broke up with Robin, but I think he was too concerned with the toy he could no longer have because someone else was playing with it.  Once Ted read his own letter, he wanted her back too.  This set up a funny showdown between the two, but it left them both without her in their lives temporarily.  In the end, Robin decided to move in with Don and to stop hanging out with her exes because she wants to give this thing with Don a chance.  A bit drastic, but there you go.

Meanwhile, Lily and Marshall were obsessed with their new twin beds.  They had slept in them when they stayed at a hotel and wound up getting the best sleep in years, so they got them for their home.  Sleeping alone proved advantageous to a good night's sleep, but it started to wear on their relationship.  The distance combined with Don's story about how he and his ex-wife got twin beds and then got divorced worried Lily.  Whoever suggested the king-sized bed had the right idea... roomy enough to have your own space, but still sharing the same bed.  Lily and Marshall should definitely look into it.

How I Met Your Mother airs Mondays on CBS. If you missed last night's episode, watch it for free at cbs.com

I think I am getting tired of "How I Met Your Mother".

I thought this was the best episode in quite a while and I still wasn't that thrilled.

Neither Barney's and Ted's Robin re-infatuation with Robin nor the twin bed dilemma were more than mildly amusing.

I think the show has lost what made it so special. I've noticed that this season was not as strong as seasons past. It's becoming more like every other sitcom on TV. Plus, the whole mother story line is starting to drag.
