Birthday Wishes: Roma Downey

I interrupt my normally scheduled posting to borrow a page from editor-in-chief TVFan's recently nostalgic birthday-esque tribute to Jane Seymour and Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman ...

There are a select few shows and actors we here at PTR still hold in great reverence - even if they no longer grace our television screens on a weekly basis, or enjoyed their heyday long before we ever knew what the heck a blog was.

Roma Downey is one of those.

We came to know - and love - her as Monica the Angel on the legendary Touched By An Angel

We still do.

And, very much as we've grandfathered Jane into the PTR Fave fold, we've also done so with Roma - who, I'm happy to report, will be back on our television screens in just a month's time with the new Hallmark Channel original movie, Come Dance at My Wedding, premiering June 6th at 9 p.m.

(And yes, yours truly DID have the great pleasure of getting Miss Wings on the phone for a one-on-one QA session, which I'll have for y'all a little bit later in the month. Suffice it to say Roma is truly a class act - charming, delightful, genuinely adorable and pretty darn funny).

As she celebrates her 49th birthday today, we couldn't be happier to send her our best.

EDITED May 19, 2009: Hallmark Channel has stopped airing its daily re-runs of Touched By An Angel. The channel assures me that they still own the rights, etc., but are currently experimenting with scheduling.
