Coach Taylor's Field of Dreams

Things were going along just fine on Friday Night Lights this week, then Tyra almost got raped! I didn't see that coming. The moment the stranger from the diner began attacking her was terrifying and upsetting, an effect that helped us feel Tyra's emotions a little more. Since she's a survivor, she was able to escape and give her intended rapist a few souvenirs. Terrifying moments that she won't be able to easily forget anytime soon. Elsewhere, the Dillon Panthers were able to pull out a win in the middle of a mud bath on Coach Taylor's homemade field. The win had a lot to do with Jason's work with Matt. He gave him the confidence he needed to back his talent, and Matt gave Jason a sense of purpose after losing the chance to play for the quad rugby team. It's a match made in football heaven, and hopefully the answer to Lyla's prayers. Although, neither is being too considerate of the other (proving once again that they are not ready to fully commit to each other). And yet, I understand where each is coming from. Jason needs to find a purpose and change the things in his life that are making him unhappy (which may include Lyla).

It's beginning to look a lot like Coach Taylor is going to take the job at TMU. Normally, this wouldn't concern me, but I'm worried that it could be an indication of the show's future. I cannot lose two awesome shows in one season (heck, I can't lose one), so this one and Veronica Mars must come back for another season. I suppose all will be made clear during next week's episode, but I can't take the suspense. Besides, Coach Taylor IS Panther Football! I have faith that he, and the show, will be back to coach another season.

This episode was so good. That scene with Tyra was gripping. This show just gets better and better.
