Hurley Once was 'Lost,' but Now is Found

Lost revisited the complicated past of the lovable Hurley last night. Here's what Turtlemama and I have to say:

Turtlemama says: Well this week’s Lost was a little uhhhhhh…..:snore:…oh, uh, um…yeah, where was I? Kate and Sawyer returned to the camp with questions of “Where’s Jack?” and answers of “Still over there.” And that was it. No one asked anything further. Hugo found a car and with help he got it running and drove it around a field for a while…whee. Kate set out to find The Others’ camp and was met by Locke and Sayid at the French Woman’s camp; all to instill French Woman’s help in getting to The Others’ camp. That was about the most exciting highlight of last night’s
episode.

Hugo’s backstory was interesting, as all of the backstories have been. And watching the survivors have a little fun with the van was nice. The scene with Sawyer teaching Jin the American phrases that women want to hear was great. But other than that it was a snooze-fest of boring over at the Lost island. Give me back Jack and The Others, at least they’re intriguing…..

Anyone seen my cookies and milk?

TVFan says: Last night's outing felt once again like a season 1 episode, but this time, the show came up short. Why? Because it was OK for Lost to give us character-heavy episodes devoid of any answers during the first season, but the same formula doesn't work for me now that we're 3/4 of the way through the third one. Nonetheless, I liked Hurley's discovery that he makes his own luck versus the belief that he is cursed. I'm just not so sure that he isn't cursed, but at least he has a new way of looking at life and it's all thanks to a broken down Dharma VW van. After "driving" it down a steep hill with Charlie in toe, Hurley found out that the hope he was searching for was hidden inside his fear of this curse. The lesson wasn't lost on Charlie, either, who is dealing with Desmond's revelation that he is going to die. Meanwhile, Kate tracked down a trigger-happy Rousseau to help her rescue Jack. And apparently, Sayid and Locke know where to find him because of the light that came off of Eko's stick at his burial. So to review, Jack's lost with the Others, Hurley is found, and I'm just as confused as ever!

Okay, I think I totally missed something with Eko's stick, when did this light thing happened and how exactly would it help them find Jack?

I couldn't agree with the both of you more. God! I want to give this show up so badly!! Whe can't I? It's the remote possibility that I might actually get some answers some day.

The stick "reveal" came at the very end when Sayid and Locke found Kate. They said something to the effect of, now you know our secret. I have no idea how the sun reflecting off of Eko's stick reveals anything about Jack's whereabouts, but I don't put much stock in Lost's "reveals" anymore.
