Another week, another edition of PTR's team coverage on Lost. Here's what Turtlemama and I have to say:
Turtlemama says: Last night’s ‘Lost’ actually revealed a little more, but again….not much more.
We learned that someone has a spinal tumor (Henry/Ben/Whoever the creepy dude is) and surprise, surprise Jack’s a spinal surgeon. Coincidence? I think not (of course no one else does either, because as we know, in this show there is no such thing as coincidence).
The lightning scene was a little interesting, with ‘Brotha’s ‘ (Desmond) new found clairvoyance that is sure to help the survivors when they finally have a meet up with The Others.
We got to see another survivor, or was he one of the ones we saw before? Honestly, I think they should have shown more survivors in the beginning rather than waiting until they’ve killed off so many that they have to just magically throw in people that we don’t know, but the other characters (the ones we DO know about) know them. Wow that was a confusing run-on sentence wasn’t it?)
Ok, by a show of hands, who had it figured out that the pacemaker thing was a psychological thing and not actual? I mean the whole island is a psychological test, right? And why did they show Sawyer the islands? I can’t figure that one out.
Also, at the end did anyone else get the impression that The Others want to work together with the survivors? I mean if they joined forces they could have one cool little community in paradise! How neat would THAT be? People are weird sometimes and really…Shiny, Happy People don’t make good TV right?
I don’t know if I believe that Kate actually ‘loves’ Sawyer, I mean dude I’d say anything if someone was beating up someone else that I cared about even if only a little, you know?
Maybe I’m not paying close enough attention, but this season has opened up all new questions, so much that I’m starting to forget my original questions that I had from the very beginning.
TVFan says: This is exactly why I don't give up on shows. Once awesome = the potential to be awesome once again. I wouldn't go so far as to call last night's outing "awesome," but it was pretty damn good. In fact, it gets my "Best of the Season Thus Far" award. I think what made this one so good was the fact that it didn't focus on just one group. There was a nice nix between Jack, Kate and Sawyer's story and the rest of the survivors. I knew that Ben was fibbing about the pacemaker. He loves to use mind games, so it wasn't a surprise to see him use one here. Of course, he could have been fibbing the second time. As much as I like the New Adventures of Jack, Kate and Sawyer, I'm beginning to think that the Others are a little too diabolical. Then again, it is the survivors who keep killing the Others (and their own!) and not the other way around. Claire and her baby were returned, and Michael got Walt back. The survivors, on the other hand, have killed Shannon, Ana Lucia, Libby, Ethan, the random man with the tallies and now this woman. Perhaps there is something to the theory that the Others aren't the "evil" ones. Interesting that Juliet is a fertility doctor considering that the Others had pregnant Claire for a bit of time. Of course, the night's biggest shocker was the revelation that the Others are on a different island than the survivors. Or are they?? Last night's episode was a "finally!" moment for this show. Things are beginning to get really good just as the show is about to take a 3-month hiatus. Frak!

I've been trying to decide about the whole "another island" thing. Honestly, it doesn't make sense. Is there an underground passage between the islands or something? What about the room that kate and claire found, with the make-up in it? That's where they kept Claire. How would the Others have gotten over to the other island so fast right after it crashed? It just doesn't make sense. Of course, I could be wrong, I've been trying to find others' opinions on this but so far nothing. Post what you think!
I'm just not sure. We could clearly see another island across the water, but who knows if it's the one where the survivors are living or not. If it is, then I imagine that the Others have a fleet of boats that we don't know about yet. It is interesting, though. We know that this show loves to play mind tricks.
