Thursday's News & Notes

Here's a look at today's biggest TV news, tonight's hottest programs and last night's biggest ratings winners.

QUICK CUTS
*NBC will keep Kidnapped for its initial 13 episode order, but will more than likely end the show after those episodes air. The new drama has struggled in the ratings, managing only around 7 million viewers a week. According to trade papers, the network asked the show's producers to wrap up the kidnapping of a wealthy New York couple's son by the end of the initial 13 episodes, so viewers will not be left hanging. Kidnapped stars Jeremy Sisto, Delroy Lindo, Timothy Hutton and Dana Delany and airs Wednesday nights on NBC.

*It's time to play this season's first round of the Network Schedule Shuffle! First up -- CBS. The network is switching sophomore comedy How I Met Your Mother with freshman comedy The Class in hopes of attracting a larger audience for the latter. How I Met Your Mother will now air Mondays at 8 p.m., followed by The Class. Next we have The CW. The new network is switching its Sunday night and Monday night line-ups. So, Sundays will now have America's Next Top Model (r), followed by 7th Heaven and new drama Runaway. Mondays will have a 2-hour comedy block from 8-10 with Everybody Hates Chris, All of Us, Girlfriends and new comedy The Game. The change begins Monday with special encore presentations of all four comedies' premieres.

*And finally, it's Nielsen Wednesday Thursday! Same story, different week. CBS once again dominated the ratings race in total viewers, while ABC won the coveted 18-49 demo crown. Here's a look at last week's Top 10 programs courtesy of USA Today:

(a look at what PTR's watching tonight and talking about tomorrow)

My Name is Earl (NBC 8 p.m.) - Earl decides to cross off number 91 on his list: "Made fun of Maggie Lester (guest star Judy Greer, 13 Going on 30, Adaptation) for having a moustache." Meanwhile, Joy and Darnell must deal with the repercussions of Joy's recent lawlessness.

CSI (CBS 9 p.m.) - The team investigates four different murders from the perspective of the deceased victims. It's a CSI first as the dead actually speak to tell their stories: a dead casino security guard whose luck ran out, a wife who "fell" off a cliff while hiking with her husband, a war veteran murdered on his first day back from Iraq, and two neighbors whose encounter with a chainsaw ends badly.

That's all for today. Be sure to tune in tomorrow for thoughts on tonight's CSI and Earl. Plus, Friday Fun and all the latest television news.

I'm so glad they are going to wrap up Kidnapped before they pull it. I've been enjoying it but I'm ok if it goes.
