Tuesday's News & Notes

Here's a look at today's biggest TV news, tonight's hottest programs and last night's biggest ratings winners.

QUICK CUTS
*COLD CASE FANS!!! As promised, I have the information straight from the source on the ending song from this week's episode of the hit crime drama. According to my contact at Warner Bros. Television, the song, "Scarlet Rose," is an original piece written and recorded for Cold Case. The episode's writer, Gary Whitney Harris, and the show's composer, Michael Levine, wrote the lyrics and Gary Haase wrote the music. Levine also composed last season's original song "300 Flowers." New York studio musicians performed the piece with Alexa handling the vocals. This is the second time that the series has used an original work as a closing song. Last season's "Beautiful Little Fool" featured the original song "300 Flowers."

*And finally, NBC's decision to air a new episode of Friday Night Lights after Heroes last night paid off. Lights' ratings soared, thanks to its superheroes lead-in. The series picked up a million viewers in its special night and time and gave NBC its best ratings in the slot since earlier this month. More than 8.2 million viewers caught the Lights last night, an all-time high for the series. If you missed the episode, be sure to tune in to an encore presentation tonight at 8 p.m. on NBC.

I hope that FNL ratings isn't the nail in the Studio 60 coffin.

think there's any chance WB will release a full copy of that "Scarlet Rose" song from Cold Case? It's seriously good!!

They didn't release "300 Flowers," but you never know. I would love for them to release a Cold Case soundtrack ala The O.C. There are a lot of good songs on the show, and they could include the original works as well.

Hi,
Any chance that song is sung by Alexa Ray Joel (Billy Joel's daughter). It sure does sound like her!
