Friday's News & Notes

Here's a look at today's biggest TV news, tonight's hottest programs and last night's biggest ratings winners.

QUICK CUTS
*CBS is pulling new heist drama Smith from its schedule. The series, starring Ray Liotta, Virginia Madsen and Amy Smart, is off the network's schedule "until further notice." CBS will air reruns of CSI and Criminal Minds in the Tuesday night slot for the next few weeks. In other network news, NBC is moving its ratings plagued Kidnapped to Saturday nights beginning October 21st. The show will remain in that slot until it burns off its remaining episodes from its initial 13-episode order. This news comes on the heels of yesterday's announcement that NBC will not be sticking with Kidnapped beyond the 13-episode commitment.

*And now the good news, NBC is giving new drama Heroes a full season commitment. The ensemble series, about ordinary people who discover that they have extraordinary abilities, is averaging around 13.5 million viewers an episode and tying fellow new drama Brothers & Sisters as the top new show in the 18-49 demo. It's the first new series to gain a full season pick-up on any network. Heroes airs Monday nights on NBC. You can catch an encore presentation of this week's episode tonight at 7 p.m. on cable's Sci Fi channel.Publish Post
